Hydrogen Sulfide - safe level = 5-10 parts per billion.

I think those numbers are bogus. Just saying.

Oh come on in the Gulf Coast heat the oil will break down over time. This isn't the cold waters of Alaska where the oil will turn into grease and sit there frozen forever. It might take a decade and cost billions to clean up the mess but 10 years and 60 billion dollars is a long way from never.

If Obama was actually a leader he would have used his speech to emphasize the difference between difficult and impossible. Instead he went for cap -n- tax and skittle pooping unicorn power projects. BTW the chances of those doing any good emphasize the impossible.

The gulf will recover no matter how many pictures you post. There is still some oil in the ground from the Exxon Valdez but its breaking down. The environment has mostly recovered and will continue to recover just like the gulf will.

The Earth will recover from a bunch of nuclear blasts too, sucks for the people, but the Earth will be fine.

If I were you I would think of changing my screen name. The feds might see it and try to classify and tax you as a hazmat waste containment vessel.

Excellent point. I am not qualified to make a decision on this issue and neither are most people.

Personally, I blame democracy. The idea that the average person’s vote is just as important as that of a highly educated person has somehow morphed into the idiotic notion that we’re all equally qualified on every issue.

As the immortal Will Rogers said, “We’re all ignorant, just about different things.” We ought to keep our traps closed on those subjects on which we’re ignorant.

They have some idiot housewife here in FL leading a campaign to force BP to use some cleanup method she thinks will work better. How she is qualified to make such a determination is beyond me. I heard an interview with her and her primary qualification appears to be that she used to live next door to an oil engineer.

Most Americans will believe whatever you tell them.

Bingo! There is no reason to assume that what "most Americans think" has any relationship to reality at all.

How stupid is it, pretending this is "news"? Most people have incorrect beliefs regarding what has happened in the past and what is happening today. How much *more totally wrong* are they likely to be about what will happen in the future?

FReep, I need a drink already. Fortunately, it's midnight in Borneo ...

I wish I was as optimistic about the situation. Every time I see the pelicans, I almost cry.

Knowledge will forever govern ignorance; and a people who mean to be their own governors must arm themselves with the power which knowledge gives.

You were saying ...

Zero’s fault...

The very lax cleanup efforts are related to Obama, but the problem in the first place is related to BP. And it seems that BP is a criminal organization, as compared to the other oil companies. They are giving testimony "against" BP now, in Congress, saying that BP did not follow good practices and that they would have never done what BP did on their rig.

And from these violations, I think we can see that BP has been in the practice of killing their employees before, and it's happened over several administrations, with this information going back to the Bush Administration ...

From a referenced article, in this post -- Post #4 ...

BP's Horrible Safety Record: It's Got 760 OSHA Fines, Exxon Has Just 1

It definitely shows "how BP operates" ... :-)

Texas’ gulf coast didn't get money from Mexico when one of their leaks was spewing 30,000 barrels a day.

Don't worry ... BP has written up in their plans for how to deal with spills in the Gulf of Mexico that they know how to take care of the walruses in the Gulf of Mexico, too .... LOL ...

If you can find any walruses in the Gulf of Mexico... good luck ... they don't exist ...

Habitat for Walruses

So, I would say that these people have a better chance of finding porpoises than BP has of finding the walruses that are in their "clean-up" plan ... hoo-boy!

Well, I sure hope they get some money when it's spewing at 120,000 barrels a day, then, and a whole heck of a lot closer to the Texas coastline .... hoo-boy!

But, actually, I would say it's Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida that may need more help ...

never is a long time.

I hate this spill as much as the next guy, but if the planet can heal itself from the comet strike that killed the dinosaurs, I think it can deal with a oil spill.

This time, yes.

You act as if nothing like this has ever happened before.

By all means put an end to the leak. By all means bill the company.

But don’t spin hyperbole “worst ever”, “never recover”, or BrakBrak’s favorite “we’ll make it even BETTER than before”.

I have no interest in what “most” Americans thing. Most Americans are idiots. At least, quite a few, a discouraging number, are idiots.

Well..., to tell you the truth ... you're right, I don't recall the last time we saw this for Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida ... like we see in those pictures on Post #13 ...

Perhaps you could refresh my memory ... :-)

Oh..., and by the way... how did Mexico deal with the walruses? ... just curious ...
