Q.
Despite being an Obama supporter and a strong proponent of health care reform, I think this plan is awful and I want to demonstrate my displeasure by boycotting it. My attitude is that you can tax me all you want for a single-payer system, but I will be damned if I pay a penny to a private company that I dont wish to pay.
Given that attitude, it seems likely that I will be subject to the nonpayment penalties, which I also do not plan on paying. Other than seizing my tax refund (something I will avoid, since I underpay to the extent that I owe a small amount each year), what other enforcement means does the government have at its disposal? Will this be treated like tax evasion, or will it be treated in some other fashion? Abraham Rash A.
The penalty that you plan to refuse to pay is the one that with a few exceptions, mostly for financial hardship will be levied on people who dont have health insurance starting in 2014.
In 2016, when the penalty is fully phased in, it will be $695 for an individual (up to $2,085 per family) or 2.5 percent of household income, whichever is greater. The penalty will increase annually based on the cost of living.

Can the whole thing be turned around?
This healthcare fiasco is pure treason.
They’ll get you AND your little dog !!
They will deduct it from your paycheck, numbnuts.
You’ll probably be jailed and your property seized. If you resist you’ll be tazed. If you continue to escalate your resistance they’ll simply kill you. Comply or die.
Every law has the threat of force behind it. Law is force.
She supports the fool, then states his plan is stupid and itends to avoid participating. Is this like those Germans that admit Hitler did some bad things but loved his dogs?
The penalty is a joke compared to buying Obama-care. It will force health-insurance companies out of business.
There is no statutory means of collecting the fine other than from refunds which the writer correctly will avoid.
yet
The thing I think a lot of people are missing is that even those of us who HAVE insurance (with a high deductible and limited benefits), which does not fit the government’s mandated definition of “acceptable coverage,” will be subjected to paying that fine also, on top of what we currently pay for insurance. But, if we change over to government healtcare, it will cost out the wazoo as well.
So, instead of hubby and I paying approx. $5000 per year, part of that going into a tax deductible medical savings acct., we will now pay about $8000 per year for SHI++Y coverage, (no tax deduction) rationed care, denied services, and a government selected physician named Akmed.
DID YOU SEE WHEE THE MUSLIMS ARE EXEMPT FROM THIS?
Seems they are not required as it is like gambling or paying interest, which they also are exempt from........
It could be.
We will need to elected Republicans with gnads to accomplish that!
The entire Obama agenda can be summarized in four words: aggressive slush fund creation.
Generally people will pay the penalty or insurance, whichever is less.
What’s with these lefties getting some common sense?
