Seattle police are to review training procedures after video of an officer punching a teenage girl circulated widely on US television and online.
The officer, Ian Walsh, has been transferred temporarily to the department's training unit, Seattle police said.
Police officials said the review of training procedures was not meant as a criticism of the officer's actions but would examine whether training could be improved.

“It would be MUCH more apropos to train some...ahem...of the residents of Seattle in the rudiments of civilized behavior and respect for the Law.”
It’s the Great Society man. It’s Lyndon and the Democrats greatest achievement.
Oh sure. Review training. It’s MUCH better to let some Obama voter beat the hell out of a cop. No nasty articles in the NY Times that way.
Subtle.
Nunced.
Hat tip.
The "girl" didn't get punched for jaywalking.
< snicker >
She jay walked, she would not take the ticket so he punched her.
SHE JAY WALKED, SO HE PUNCHED HER
Well, you'd be close if you were close, but she was just fine up until she assaulted the cop. Her getting punched had nothing to do with jaywalking, and it is completely dishonest and stupid to claim she got punched for jaywalking. She got punched for shoving the cop. It's that simple.
Look, I am no great fan of cops who abuse their authority. This guy was 100% undeniably within his right AND DUTY to do what he did. I'd be backing him ifhe shot her dead with the entire magazine, too, and so would anyone with any intelligence.
>>You cant accuse a vigilant German Shepherd of racism, profiling or a hate crime<<
Don’t know about that.
My 3 shepherds are babies around everyone - except the muzzies next door. And black people selling stuff door-to-door.
Note: No formal training was required.
Wrong.
She jaywalked, she would not take the ticket, then she and her friend assaulted him, so he punched the friend who was the primary assailant.
Now ... not only do you have the facts wrong, your "brief summary" leaves out salient facts. Your "brief summary" is, in fact, a half truth: an even worse form of deception than an outright fabrication.
If she wishes to avoid getting punched in the future, she might consider:
1) Not jaywalking.
2) Accepting the ticket and contesting it in court.
3) Not resisting arrest.
4) Not helping her friend resist arrest.
5) Not assaulting folks, particularly peace officers.
On the one hand, your dogs probably know that the muzzies hate them and that the door-to-door salesmen are up to no good.
On the other hand, I was snickering at the Jane Goodall comment ...
Yeah the Shepherd commentary was mine.
Don’t blame AB.(grin)
3 German Shepherds, huh? Remind me not to do a frontal assualt on your home anytime soon.
She did not get punched for “Jaywalking” she got a hard Right over hand to her jaw for Assaulting a police officer while he was effecting an arrest of another person.
Maybe if she had listened to the man in the Green shirt pulling her back at the beginning of the Video, She might not have been hit.
Actions Have Consequences!
LIT, LIT WYS
LIT= Life IS Tough
If the girl was punched for jaywalking that would have been wrong. She was punched because she was attacking the officer. She was lucky she wasn’t shot.
Oh, trust me...that accusation's been made before.
Where was his taser?
You bet he needs more training.
In steps the larger girl in the red, who clearly outweighs the officer by at least 30 lbs, and pushes the officer away from the first girl. It is also obvious to the observer that the larger girl almost pushed him down. THAT is when the officer went into self defense mode, punched the larger girl who then backed off.
SCENARIO: You are walking down the street and throw your McDonald's large soda cup into the street and a cop sees you. He stops and attempts to counsel you about littering and you go into full blown obnoxious and tell him to F-OFF and leave you alone.
What do you think will happen to you??
And it wouldn't have been a tough shot. That chick had a LOT of mass.
