Gov. Bobby Jindal chastised the Coast Guard today for stopping eight barges equipped with vacuums to siphon oil for an unnecessary inspection Wednesday.
"The last 24 hours have been incredibly frustrating," Jindal said at a news conference at Fort Jackson in Buras, following an aerial tour of oil-fighting efforts on the coast.
Calling for "more urgency" in the federal government's response to the growing oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico, Jindal described how it took calls to the White House to clear the way for the barges to commence with cleaning up surface oil today.
"Twenty-four hours were lost unnecessarily," he said. "That's thousands of gallons of oil that could have been sucked up if they had been allowed to do their jobs."
Jindal said 16 barges were ready or had been deployed from the Delta Marina. The Coast Guard Wednesday stopped several because they didn't have proof of certified inspections. After a round-robin of phone calls among Jindal's office, the Coast Guard and the White House, the Coast Guard eventually waived the inspection process and allowed the barges to proceed, Jindal said.

A lady called Rush today about this, he said he didn’t have any news on it. Well here it is, another idiot move by Obama and company.
Stock up - Jindal
Stock down - Bamster
It is ALL about obama nad his handlers seizing control of everything.
Hmmm....if I had my tinfoil hat on I might think that they are trying to make things worse.
Gee, you think maybe uninspected barges might spill some oil?
I think the Coast Guard is keeping everyone possible out of the Gulf, on orders from on high. They don’t want witnesses to what is going on.
I wouldn’t be surprised.
Butch Incompetano? good one.
Once again the government should just get the hell out of the way and let citizens take care of the problems. Government is incapable of handling even the most simple of problems due to bureaucracy and red tape. God help us if national health care ever gets up and running.
Jindal’s stock has been going up and I can see a scenario for a ‘12 run, although he said he wouldn’t. But, Jindal could say that next time it could be another state, e.g. the Big One in CA, and the US needs someone who can respond effectivley in a crisis.
There is no problem so great, that government can’t make even worse.

This is not an idiotic move by obama and company, this is a strategic move by them...they are acting with intent.
“Gee, you think maybe uninspected barges might spill some oil?”
What we really need here is a panel full of lawyers, a few months and ten million dollars to determine if the barges should even be in operation in the first place during an emergency...
Odd, there was a fire on one of the oil skimming boats a few days ago. Did you think that might be the reason? How about the Coast Guard doesn’t want more deaths?
Thad Allen doing obama’s dirty work?
Big Brother at work. They suspected that there wasn’t enough lifejackets.
Bureaucrats at work. Let them eat oil mentaslity.
The cleanup crews the feds recruited are coming from medium security prisons that include sex offenders. The ones cleaning the pelicans are actually stomping their nesting areas.
Yea... they might leak.... /sarc
