Today, the Coast Guard stopped oil skimming vessels that were hired by the state of Louisiana...because they couldn't verify if the ships had life preservers and fire extinguishers.

The Obama administration is secretly working with Russia to conclude an agreement that many officials fear will limit U.S. missile defenses, a key objective of Moscow since it opposed plans for a U.S. missile defense interceptor base in Eastern Europe, according to American officials involved in arms control issues.  According to the officials, the administration last month presented a draft agreement on missile defenses to the Russians as part of talks between Ellen Tauscher, undersecretary of state for international security and arms control, and Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Rybakov.  The secret talks and possible agreement have triggered alarm among pro-missile defense advocates who are concerned that the administration, in its effort to "reset" ties with Moscow, will make further concessions constraining current and future missile defenses.

Obama is asking Congress to set aside $15 million for the commission he recently named to look into the causes of the Gulf of Mexico oil spill and make recommendations on the future of offshore drilling.

Documents obtained from the Department of Energy and elsewhere appear to present a prima facie case of a senior Obama administration official, Assistant Secretary of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Cathy Zoi, participating substantially in decisions impacting companies in which she is heavily invested. This flouts ethics requirements and would be a violation of U.S. criminal law. The Department of Energy has yet to provide additional requested documents regarding Zoi. Even more troubling, the designated ethics officer has so far refused to even acknowledge the request for records she is required by law to provide the public.

You'll Pay the Price for Health Insurance, or Pay the Penalty-..."The penalty...will be levied on people who don't have health insurance starting in 2014.  In 2016, when the penalty is fully phased in, it will be $695 for an individual (up to $2,085 per family) or 2.5 percent of household income, whichever is greater. The penalty will increase annually based on the cost of living."

Toxic BP Oil Spill Fumes Will Cause Death & Cancer – Government & BP Negligent In Alerting Public

Did the Obama EPA turn away the Dutch offer for help because of a moronic rule?- The U.S. Government has apparently reconsidered a Dutch offer to supply 4 oil skimmers. Water pumped into the tanker will settle to the bottom of the tanker and is then pumped back into the ocean to make room for more oil. Each system will collect 5,000 tons of oil each day.  The Dutch offered to fly their skimmer arm systems to the Gulf 3 days after the oil spill started. The offer was apparently turned down because EPA regulations do not allow water with oil to be pumped back into the ocean. If all the oily water was retained in the tanker, the capacity of the system would be greatly diminished because most of what is pumped into the tanker is sea water.

In Fort Jackson, La., Jindal has ordered the Guard to start building barrier walls right in the middle of the ocean.

The Obama administration on Monday announced new rules it said would protect Americans who want to keep their current health insurance but critics say the changes could end up causing millions to lose their coverage.  Part of Obama's healthcare overhaul, the new regulations are meant to discourage companies from making major changes in health insurance benefits.

Despite a resolution by Congress authorizing war against those responsible for the 9/11 terrorist attacks, President Obama’s nominee to be the number two official at the Justice Department, James Cole, wrote an op-ed in 2002 likening the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon to the domestic crimes of murder, rape and child abuse, while arguing that the attackers ought to be treated like domestic criminals.

Secretary of State Clinton included the U.S. for the first time on the State Department’s list of nations “trafficking in persons” for forced labor ranging from farm workers to pole dancers and prostitutes.

ObamaCare appears to have one grandfathered standard for labor unions and another standard for everyone else.  Unions that had a health plan under a collective bargaining agreement by March 23, 2010, can switch insurers as long as the collective bargaining deal is in effect and not forfeit the grandfathered exemptions from many ObamaCare provisions. But anyone else — large business, small business, individual — who switches carriers loses their grandfathered status.
