A Gulf state senator ripped BP chief executive Tony Hayward for taking time off Saturday to attend a glitzy yacht race around England's Isle of Wight as oil spewing into the Gulf continues to wreak havoc on the environment and wildlife.

"That's the height of arrogance," Sen. Richard Shelby, R-Ala., told Fox News on Saturday.

Looks Like Tony Got His Life Back.

However, my family, friends and associates that work along the Louisiana Gulf Coast will never get their lives back due to the incompetence of Tony and BP.

“Can we, as his employer, demote BO?????”

Well, if you demoted him, he’d simply be replaced by another bozo named Joe Biden. I’d be happy with just giving him an extended “time out” (detention, suspension: I don’t really care what it’s called). I’d recommend a time out of about 30 months’ duration.

During that period, he would be prohibited from signing any legislation, approving any treaties, making any new political appointments AND (most importantly) speaking to the press or public in any fashion or form.

Given his lack of experience, I don’t want to be too harsh on the man, so it would be fine by me if he spent every minute of his idle time playing hoops or golf. I suspect that the less visible he is, the higher will be the level of public confidence about our future.

BP made it “Official” yesterday that Hayward is NO longer in charge of any of this - now Bob Dudley ans American

Thus one could argue Hayward now has “his life back”...?

In 1984 Gulf divested many of its worldwide operating subsidiaries to others, and then formally merged with Chevron...

While the Gulf name may still be around and in use. the original Gulf Oil company is long since gone

Oh cry me a river and stop your melodramatics. While it was a BP rig that caused this mess it's not like they planned it. Look in the dictionary and there is a word there called "ACCIDENT".......Shit happens and it's unfortunate when it does. BP has been doing everything in its power to fix this thing despite the posturing by your government. And they have issued their guarantee that everyone affected by this will be compensated.

What more can you ask?

To claim that your friends, family and associates will never get their lives back is ridiculous at best...........

It seems you may have all the solutions for the problems that the BP spill has and will cause.

That being the case, what is you solution to clean-up repair the marshes, wetlands, estuaries and oyster beds that have been polluted by the oil from this spill?

Until those areas are returned to the state that they were prior to the blow out, the good people of South Louisiana are being deprived of their livelihoods.

I was reading about some of that on Wiki this morning, the various mergers, but it said some were still around. I know about 10 years ago I went to Puerto Rico, and was amazed to find that they still had some "Gulf" service stations with the old orange signs.

I know that here in the Atlanta area, all of the Gulf stations started changing to BP stations.

I had used BP gasoline way back in the 60's when I was stationed in Germany, so they have been around a while.

I guess the old orange Gulf signs are just nostalgia at this point.

To the extent that Gulf is still around it consists of “Intellectual property rights” that were sold off piecemeal - including the right to market gas using the old Gulf brand logo.

Most don't realize that very few gasoline stations are actually owned or operated by the oil company who's name/brand is on the station...(and the products sold do not come exclusively from any one source.

Thus when folks say they are boycotting BP - the only individuals actually hurt are the small business owners that own and operate as cluster of BP branded service stations.

All gasoline (from all regional refiners) is sent by pipeline to large (common) regional storage facilities where it is stored in common by octane grade, and then transported out for delivery to a wide range of retail stations.

Thus any one tank of gas in your car will contain product made from the “blended” oil produced by many different domestic and/or foreign entities - and then refined by a host of different refineries.

It is a signal that if the GOP wins in NOV nothing will change....the lib skunks will behave as though they won and the GOP will be content to be door mats.

How about the GOP winning the elections in NOV and then IMPEACH THE BASTARD FOR BEING INCOMPETENT?

You were saying ...

How about the GOP winning the elections in NOV and then IMPEACH THE BASTARD FOR BEING INCOMPETENT?

Incompetent would definitely be the case, but unfortunately that doesn't rise to the level of a crime ... hoo-boy!

They've got to operate under these guidelines ...

The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.

BUT, the "real problem" is that in order to convict in the Senate, you've got to have a vote of at least 2/3 in order to carry the day. You'll remember how that went for President Clinton -- and that was a "slam-dunk case" and they still couldn't do it.

So, if you think that will happen ... well ... dream on ... :-)

I'm afraid that you're stuck with the "ole tried and true method" that works 100% of the time -- and that's to "vote him out of office".
