Last Paragraph:

Hastings, who has covered the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan for two years, according to the magazine, is not well known within the Defense Department.

And as a freelance reporter, Hastings would be considered a bigger risk to be given unfettered access compared to a beat reporter who would risk burning bridges by publishing many of McChrystal’s remarks.

I think McCrystal fell on the sword on this.

He wanted to out Obama, and did so. Very effectively.

It is interesting (if sobering) to see what exactly will spur this president to action - namely, any threat to his inflated ego.

I guess the narcissist-in-chief has a thin skin. Obama should be impeached, tried for treason and shipped to Gitmo to rot with his muslim buddies.

McChrystal knew what he was doing. He knows this is a career ender for him. I think he’s sounding the alarm in a very public way. In his own way he’s keeping his oath to the constitution. He is a patriot.

– “Even though he had voted for (President Barack) Obama, McChrystal and his new commander-in-chief failed from the outset to connect. The general first encountered Obama a week after he took office, when the president met with a dozen senior military officials in a room at the Pentagon known as the Tank. According to sources familiar with the meeting, McChrystal thought Obama looked “uncomfortable and intimidated” by the roomful of military brass. Their first one-on-one meeting took place in the Oval Office four months later, after McChrystal got the Afghanistan job, and it didn’t go much better. ‘It was a 10-minute photo-op,’ says an adviser to McChrystal. ‘Obama clearly didn’t know anything about him, who he was. Here’s the guy who’s going to run his f-ing war, but he didn’t seem very engaged. The Boss was pretty disappointed.’”

Thanks to Gen. Stanley McChrystal. Lets keep up the pressure and exposure of King Obama. King Obama looks more like a fool every day that his ego gets pounded. Wow! The posture of a crumbling criminal.

If he voted for Obama his is not much of a commander and by apologizing he’s lost a lot of credibility. Much better to just resign and let his words stand. He is finished anyway but now he looks weak. If I were him I’d just have an aid deliver my letter of resignation rather then let Obama chew my butt.

What the author is saying, is that Politico, having the disparaging comments McChrystal made about Obamah and his administration would not have printed them for fear of 'burning bridges' and losing access.

How's that for journalism!

Typical Politico prop-up of the Bummer by proposing that the little chimp could possibly show bluster in the face of military commanders. McChrystal wanted out or a major sea change that wasn’t apparently happening.

Has someone got a way to count the number of times Barack Hussein has been described as “furious”? Or is that a spurious question?

Just curious.

[ The face-to-face comes as pundits are already calling for McChrystal to resign for insubordination. ]

He should resign at a press conference..
With the statement he will NOT WORK for A TRAITOR...
But more importantly for an incompetant traitor..

He could do it nicely on the Glen Beck Show... or Limbaugh.. or BOTH...

there’s no chance that this piece was accidental or the words inadvertant.

McChristal knows what it takes to win.

They either change to help him win or boot him out and confirm Eckilsberry with a self fulfilling prophecy.

If they boot him out then they hang the loss on themselves.

McChristal comes out clean.

good heavens, can ANYONE openly criticize the Usurper WITHOUT turning around and apologizing later? I think of all the people who criticized previous Presidents and stood by their words. Why is everyone all of a sudden wimpy now? From Joe Wilson to Barton to now McKrystal. What’s gotten into people?

This makes me furious. Here we have McKyrstal, a decorated war hero, who has proven his allegiance to this country, now having to crawl grovelling to this Usurper, who never risked anything for anyone except for his narcissitic self, a man who bowed to the Saudi king and emperor of Japan, and a decorated general has to go asking for forgiveness from HIM?????

I weep for my beloved America. What have we done to you?

He should voluntarily step down and REFUSE to apologize for the TRUTH. Missed another opportunity!

...

The top U.S. war commander in Afghanistan is being called to the White House for a meeting with President Obama after issuing an apology Tuesday for an interview in which he took shots at top administration officials and his staff described the president as unprepared for their first one-on-one encounter.

In the article in this week’s issue of Rolling Stone, Gen. Stanley McChrystal also said he felt betrayed and blind-sided by his diplomatic partner, Ambassador Karl Eikenberry.

...

(Dont’s feel too sorry for him, he VOTED FOR OBAMA!)

“The article says that although McChrystal voted for Obama, the two failed to connect from the start. Obama called McChrystal on the carpet last fall for speaking too bluntly about his desire for more troops.”

...

The article claims McChrystal has seized control of the war “by never taking his eye off the real enemy: The wimps in the White House.”

Asked by the Rolling Stone reporter about what he now feels of the war strategy advocated by Biden last fall – fewer troops, more drone attacks – McChrystal and his aides reportedly attempted to come up with a good one-liner to dismiss the question. “Are you asking about Vice President Biden?” McChrystal reportedly joked. “Who’s that?”

Biden initially opposed McChrystal’s proposal for additional forces last year. He favored a narrower focus on hunting terrorists.

“Biden?” one aide was quoted as saying. “Did you say: Bite me?”

Another aide reportedly called White House National Security Adviser Jim Jones, a retired four star general, a “clown” who was “stuck in 1985.”

...

“Here’s one that covers his flank for the history books,” McChrystal told the magazine. “Now, if we fail, they can say ‘I told you so.”’
