This is a pivotal time for McChrystal and America. Let's hope he does the right thing and that the rest of the Pentagon back him up!

General McChrystal is an obama voter, and in my opinion, deserves jail for treason.

No coup d’etat!
No junta!
If you go down that path once, it keeps on happening, and sooner or later, the generals don't bother putting civilians in office.
The remedy is coming in 2010 and 2012. Vote the jerk out.

Let's be logical here. McChrystal isn't going to throw a 30+ year military career down the toilet. When all the dust settles he'll be lucky to be allowed to retire. The regime is very sensitive to criticism, to say the least. The Chicago thugs we have in charge will get their revenge on McChrystal. I haven't seen the Rolling Stone article but it sounds like he sounded the alarm on what we have running the war. It's up to the media to follow up and start exposing the lack of leadership here. Given their slavish devotion to Soetoro, I'm not holding my breath.

I can't say anything good about Obama.
But McChrystal was out of line. Generals do what the politicians tell them. If they don't like it, they can resign, and then they can write a book. While you're wearing the uniform, you don't bad mouth the leadership. Even if the leadership is [sigh] Obama.

Nope. We have a clown in the White House, no doubt. But - like it or not - he is the Commander in Chief. When that order breaks down, we will not be the USA ever again.

If the wording of the following oath is still in effect, an officer does not have to follow the POTUS’ orders:
“I, _____ (SSAN), having been appointed an officer in the Army of the United States, as indicated above in the grade of _____ do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign or domestic, that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservations or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office upon which I am about to enter; So help me God.” (DA Form 71, 1 August 1959, for officers.)

Well, we, the American people, will be even more disappointed if you do not uphold your oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States and confront this usurper who is like a cancer on our nation.
The American people (including McChrystal) elected Obama. He's the president, and McChrystal's commander-in-chief.
You have a choice. You could assume the distinct honor of demanding the arrest of Obama and all of his illegitimate cronies tomorrow.
There's no honor in engaging in banana-republic tactics that make a mockery of the concepts of democratically elected leadership and civilian control of the military. Obama is a disaster as a president - but he is the legitimately elected president and policy differences do not justify coups. Your solution would inflict far more damage on America than Obama is capable of. Vote the guy out in 2012.

Finally, a topic with some balls to it instead of fluff and vanities here at FR.
I watched a classic movie last night from a master story teller of twisted intrigue, of many a novel of the military and spies, this movie is a double feature with Kelly’s Heroes on Blue Ray from a novel written by Alistair McLain.
I bet in the next day only 2 or 3 posters know what movie I am talking about.
We shall see soon who may decide to take the long drop from the aircraft at the end of the mission.
