Texas GOP platform: criminalize gay marriage and ban sodomy, outlaw strip clubs and pornography
New York Daily News ^ | June 23, 2010 | Aliyah Shahid

The Texas Republican Party gives a whole new meaning to the word conservative.

The GOP there has voted on a platform that would ban oral and anal sex. It also would give jail sentences to anyone who issues a marriage license to a same-sex couple (even though such licenses are already invalid in the state).

“We oppose the legalization of sodomy,” the platform says. “We demand that Congress exercise its authority granted by the U.S. Constitution to withhold jurisdiction from the federal courts from cases involving sodomy.”

In addition, the platform says that homosexuality “tears at the fabric of society, contributes to the breakdown of the family unit and leads to the spread of dangerous communicable diseases.”

It also states that homosexuality must not be presented as an acceptable “alternative” lifestyle in public schools and “family” should not be redefined to include homosexual couples.

OK, according to the article this is a proposed platform, not one the Texas GOP's adopted. As such, it could have been proposed by, say, Fred Phelps and have zero support within the party. The article is, to be kind, premature.

Although we can’t verify the document’s authenticity. Other than text, I haven’t found any writer or signature of the document. I’m guessing that the document would be signed off by the Texas Party chair if it were in fact a valid document.

This is ridiculous nonsense just to rile people up by playing into the “Republicans are anti-sex” stereotype.

The Texas GOP is not in favor of outlawing strip clubs, pornography and/or specific sexual acts between consenting adults. Good grief ... most Republican lawmakers are married and thus participate in those specific sex acts with regularity.

Houston is pretty much the most strip-club heavy city this side of Las Vegas. There are porn shops all over the place.

Conservatives, generally speaking, don’t care what you do in your bedroom ...

When you get past the cleaned-up for television/movie/MSM facade of the sodomite lifestyle, this is what we are in the process of normalizing.

Sigh, that is a damn ugly pic but I do prefer my conservatism on the libertarian side. Glad I don’t live in Texas I guess.

Being that "libertarian for life" Ron Paul doesn't even acknowledge homosexuality as a sin, your "libertarian side" is showing it's true colors (rainbow colors that is).

Since the floods gates of sexual depravity were opened in Texas (based on the SCOTUS ruling in Lawrence vs Texas) it's only appropriate that they start legislation to close the same gates.

And now, for a little history on sodomy laws.

"Prior to 1962, sodomy was a felony in every state..." Link to Sodomy Laws

I hope a mod pulls this article double quick.

I hope the Mod's leave the post in place.

Within minutes of its posting on the Internet, the story winds up on Free Republic.

Within minutes of that, the story is exposed as a vile piece of MSM anti-conservative bias -- at best highly misleading and a worst an outright lie.

Isn't the exposure of such outrageous conduct one of the things Freepers do so very well?

And isn't it one of the main reasons why Libtards in general and the MSM in particular consider FR to be a hate site?

I vote for allowing the article to stay as a testament to the power of the new media over the vile monopoly of the old.

“has voted on”, not “has adopted”.

Particular proposal voted down, it appears. Don’t believe anything the MSM tells you about Texas or Republicans either, “reallypink”.

I contacted the Texas GOP officials and asked if they have, or have made, any response to the article in the New York Daily News. If they let me know what that response is, I will pass it on, here in this thread later.

Yeah I’m an agnostic/deist, I make no apologies for it. I really don’t care.

Focusing on sodomy with all we’re going through seems to be the height of stupidity IMO.
