I believe Obama's team is on record saying no border fence until Amnesty, so it's not beyond their boundaries to use a real human tragedy for political gain.
I am also pretty sure Obama said he's been in control since "Day 1" on the oil spill.
Now, the moment the "Oil Drilling Ban" is overturned a ROV knocks the cap off the oil well and "we have a full scale out of control leak again".

I find it very convenient also. And the oil leak hard on the heels of a mining disaster? Um, yeah.

I don’t know about your conspiracy theory, but here’s another interesting data point. One of the two people who died during the oil cleanup today died of a gun shot wound, at least according to this article.

This wouldn’t surprise me one bit, Scythian! Someone was in control of that robot, and I would bet someone “bumped” the controls or something of the like. This is amazingly convenient.
Unfortunately, I feel that the Regime has triangulated themselves so well that nothing will come out about any of this. There’s a possibility of uncovering conspiracies after his term is up, but at present, there are too many cooks in the kitchen. Someone’s gotta screw up really bad.
George Soros and his $891 million investment in Petrobras is a beneficiary. As Dick Cheney would say, “big time.” And the more George benefits, the more the money flows to lefists in election campaigns, including Obama’s next run, plus more money for the Center for American Progress, which seems to be in charge of setting all these policies. They recommended both the $20 billion shakedown and the 6 month ban on drilling.
PURPOSE?
To replace discredited “Global Warming” ideology with a newer, more immediate disaster requiring the far-reaching Government intervention.
Marxists have a long history of killing to get their Utopia in place. The Cap and Trade scam is worth nearly 10 trillion dollars to Obama, Gore, Golden Sacks, etc. plus would give a global government some waling around money for wealth transfer.
Yes, Obama would harm Americans to get his “change” in place.

Here is the rough timeline I’ve been working on:
1) Feb 2010 - BP was fighting large cracks at the base of the Deepwater Horizon well for roughly ten days in early February. BP notifies the feds that things aren’t going well.
2) March – BP cuts costs and cuts corners on safety as they carry on their work
3) March – An engineer complains of practices on the rig, claiming that it almost blew up.
4) Obama announces that off-shore drilling will get a green light
5) Goldman Sachs sold 4,680,822 shares of BP in the first quarter of 2010
6) The CEO of BP starts dumping BP stock
7) April - The well explodes, killing 11 and beginning the spill
8) The federal government issues a moratorium on off-shore oil drilling.
9) The federal government is slow to act in dealing with the spill
10) The federal government will not accept foreign nations offers of help
11) The federal government will not use skimmers on hand to gather oil
12) Louisiana asks for permission to build sand berms to protect the LA coast.
13) The federal government dithers endlessly and declines to grant permission.
14) Louisiana goes ahead and begins construction of sand berms anway.
15) The federal government orders that the construction of sand berms be discontinued.
It looks to me like this was meant to happen and meant to result in a massive environmental problem. I say the whole thing is more deliberate than accidental.
It wouldn’t surprise me at all. This administration is into extortion for their cap and trade green energy program bigtime and it appears that BP has thrown in with them.
All of the events leading up to and after the original blow up are suspicious.
Whether or not you believe in a conspiracy these are facts.
BP is involved, MASSIVELY, in Carbon Trading and the entire Global green power grab. This goes much further than just BP. From the beginning, the global warming fraud was about power and money...and BP jumped in with both feet.
Obama is using this as an object lesson to restart the carbon trading business after the dip in belief regarding Climate Change.
This oil spill conveniently happened just after Climate Gate had taken hold and driven down support for the Global Warming fraud.
The response of BP, the Federal Govt and even the Mainstream Media as this tragedy unfolds warrants investigation....yet by all accounts any “investigation” has been derailed...and who exactly is going to DO the investigation?
Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama, IMO, should be far more proactive than they are on a number of fronts.
A Reichstag moment perhaps? Whether it is or not, a conspiracy could play well among the environmental purists, that is those that support environmental purity over Marxist aims. Socialist states have always been environmentally dirty places and politics always came first (Remember Chernobyl, Eastern European factories)
Perhaps we could convince some of these environmentalists that 0bama is intentionally destroying the environment for political gain.
