Caption President Barack Obama and the Fly
Yahoo/AP | 6/23/10 | AP photographer

Since this is an AP photo, I don't think I can post to it or link it directly. But there is a link to the photo below. Same fly as on Drudge, but a better camera angle.

My caption: BEELZEBUB, LORD OF THE FLIES

Some time back, Obama was being interviewed on camera by a couple of TV talking heads, when he suddenly swatted a fly.

The nightly news was full of how wonderful a fly-swatter Obama was. Swift and athletic. Their legs were all tingling at the sight.

Yes, flies are always attracted to evil.

Black Fly season lasts, on average, from Memorial Day to the Fourth of July. The season will start earlier in some parts of the state, especially southern Maine, and end later in northern Maine. Black flies are mostly found in wooded, wet areas with with large amounts of standing water. Summer breezes are your best insect repellent as the flies like hot calm days.

Black fly likes to crawl on you before it bites and can leave a bite that iches and swells. While some people may have quite a reaction to them - the bites are more annoying than harmful.

President Barack Obama and his family are scheduled to arrive Friday, July 16, and stay through Sunday, July 18.

Information about where the family would stay and the sights they might take in while visiting Maine was not available Friday night. The visit is a personal family vacation and no public appearances are scheduled, Pingree said.
Obamas to vacation in Maine next weekend

Interesting to watch for the plague of flies to descend upon his vacation in Vacationland.

I’m on Maine right now. There are a few black flies and no-see-ums, but there is an absolute plague of horse flies or deer flies. When I take our dogs for a walk this past week, they are all over the poor guys, although they manage to cope with it.

And horse flies are racists. They are attracked to dark colors rather than light. They swarm all over the black spot on the back of my German shepherd’s neck, but almost ignore the bloodhound and the basset, who is white and tan.

I’ve only been bitten a few times so far.
