Ragging rights: Guy's first to get Obama mad
NY Post ^ | June 23, 2010 | Charles Hurt

WASHINGTON -- Gen. Stanley McChrystal may be dumber than BP's Tony Hayward when it comes to media strategy, and his powers of judgment might rank down there with Lindsay Lohan's.

But you got to hand it to the guy for managing to accomplish one thing nobody has ever been able to do: He genuinely pissed off President Obama.

We are talking snapped anger, the kind where you demand that a four-star general fly halfway around the globe on a dime to face a furious and vengeful war council that he has just insulted in the most public, creative and unkind ways.

A rage on the Richter scale we have never seen before from the professorial "no drama" Obama.

Throughout the financial meltdown and discoveries of bailed-out golden parachutes for expired CEOs, Obama kept his icy cool -- a steady hand on the rudder of mad government spending.

Through legislative setbacks in Congress, letdowns around the globe and even Olympic losses for his beloved hometown, Obama has pushed on without a blip in his pulse rate.

Add in that he’s a laughingstock to every world leader he’s met, and held in contempt by a majority of Americans, and you have to wonder if the general’s interview just hit him at a low point in a chemical calm.

Right, the general forgot to lie and spew the official line. He momentarily forgot that to a politician PR is everything. If he wanted to keep his job he had to be the quintessential yes-man. I disliked the yes-man attitude when I was in, if any of my soldiers tried it they immediately went on my S list. If I was POTUS I’d want honesty at all times, even brutal honesty.
But of course, no one dare such a thing with POTUS.

The more I think about it, the more I think that this whole episode is a Godsend to LtCol Lakin and his defense team.

Obama has just unequivocally demonstrated that he “is” the Commander-in-Chief. Therefore a request to show that he is also in that position legitimately is both reasonable and prudent.

"Gen. Stanley McChrystal may be dumber than BP's Tony Hayward when it comes to media strategy . . ."

I say it was brilliant strategy. I was a well placed bombshell placed in the heart of the Left: Rolling Stone Magazine.

It will have more effect than if McChrystal took out his frustration in the State Owned Media. The Obama Regime has back stabbed him and undermined his efforts in Afghanistan ever since he asked for 40,000 to secure the military part of the Anti-insurgency Tactics. The political part of these tactics have been undermined by Richard Holbrooke, Obama's special envoy in Afghanistan and Pakistan; Karl Eikenberry, the US ambassador in Kabul, and of course, National Security Adviser James Jones. For instance, changes to the rules of engagement required The U.S. commander in Afghanistan to order U.S. and NATO forces to break away from fights with militants hiding among villagers. This was contrary to centuries of sound military tactics.
