ST. LOUIS A federal judge issued a temporary restraining order Thursday against St. Francois County Sheriff Dan Bullock and other local law enforcement from enforcing Missouri statutes and stopping a planned protest at the funeral of Corporal Michael C. Bailey. The restraining order was filed in U.S. Eastern District Court by the ACLU on behalf of the Westboro Baptist Church.

I’m surprised one of these funeral-protesters hasn’t gotten decked... or the group run-off with shotguns.
Both seem like valid responses on the part of the mourners.
unbelievable....a temp restraining order so they can’t do their job per the laws of the state....what do laws mean anymore in this country...??...the judges just throw them around to fit their fancy on any given day....
They have gotten decked. They sue the person and generally win.
‘The People’ are not going to sit around and watch this crap forever.
Take photo of them put posters up all over town, every month.
They don’t live in the places where they “protest”, unfortunately..............
Westboro Baptist IS NOT a church - it is a scam machine run by (IIRC) a debarred lawyer and his nutcase family.
You are correct - they make a fortune by these protests, getting beat up and sung the local govt for failure to protect.
Open and unrestricted Lawfare. Just like the Greenies have shut down drilling, just like LARaza pushing thier agenda, etc, etc.
Pray for the Nation.
Thank God for the Patriot Guard Riders. I’m sure they’ll be there.
The WBC demands protection from the police when they protest. I’ve dealt with them before. Maybe the police should just be busy that day & let the people deal with these kooks. The problem is that Phelps & family want to sue , sue & sue for every little thing they can. So beating up on them means an arrest & a lawsuit. A few big tracker trailer trucks sitting in front of these protesters could block them....
With a few notable exceptions like Janice Rogers Brown, female judges seem like a yesterday experiment, like leisure suits. It's no doubt partly due to self-selectionwhat was the typical political philosophy among the women who wanted to be lawyers in 1968? But whereas a majority of Leftist male judges seem unable to separate the law from their desire for political results, with the females, it's more like 99 percent.
When you take out all the confounding factors such as the era and the source of the appointment, I'm guessing it's a temperament thing. In a woman, bloodless objectivity isn't all that common, and it isn't what makes a woman great. On the other hand, if you hate self-sacrificing male courage and want to rewrite the law to say what you want it to mean, I guess jurists like Jean Constance are just the thing.
Well then, I guess it’s time for “run off with a shotgun”...
Look at the bright side, if they kill them the military can protest at that shitbag’s funeral...
oh, no, wait... the military are FORBIDDEN from doing anything political while in uniform.
There is a distinction in this situation that seems so crystal clear, but apparently only to me, otherwise this nonsense would never be allowed to happen as it happens.
1. Everyone has a right to free speech.
2. No one has a right to an audience. The audience must volunteer to hear the speech of another.
Those gathered for a funeral, at specific time and at a specific place, are there for a common purpose, or to be in the audience for the final rites of someone. No one else should have any right to gather near that group (within hearing) and coopt that audience for their own protest purposes.
This group of Westboro fools and goons could hold their protest anywhere else, at any time. It is ridiculous that any judge would think they have a right to gather near a funeral, to protest and disrupt those gathered for an entirely different purpose.
Ah, yes. The American Criminal Liberties Union will defend the “civil rights” of anyone who meets their personal agenda.
Suppose the Northboro *******Church demonstrated and protested and villified the deceased at the burial of a lawyer. Would the ACLU defend the N*B? Betcha NOT.
Vigilantes Doing the jobs the police won't. |
“A few big tracker trailer trucks sitting in front of these protesters could block them....”. My idea exactly, as well as a loudspeaker playing “God Bless America”.
Police must be on duty to protect citizens from WBC. Can’t let citizens be goaded into confrontation or they sue.
