"Seventy percent (70%) or more of voters have been angry about the policies of the federal government for months now ..."

From earlier in the week. A search on titles came back with no hits.

25 years? I wonder which of the 57 states will be first?

Only 12? Guess I’m in the minority.

Of course, I don’t think it’ll take 25 years. (see tag)

Unless the electorate gets educated and motivated in miraculous fashion then it will be too late in less than 10 years.

Form up and just do it, don’t wait. Let these g—damned socialists/progressives/communists go their own way. Refine the Constitution, get rid of the “general welfare” clause; but, the Constitution works and should be kept as the standard. Eliminate these “living document” advocates. There’s got to be a set of standards and the Constitution is that set.

well, that’s depressing. I was kind of hoping for something like 70% thinking it will happen in the next 2 years, and 80% willing to let us go...

I very much need a divorce...

I'm thinking there will be 50% chance an attempt within the next few months. They won't call it secession, too many old wounds there. Whatever they call it will be some new focus group tested catch phrase. Perhaps something like Enhanced State Autonomy Bill or Constitutional Delineation of Powers Act. The Tell the Feds to Pound Sand Act of 2011 would be appropriate, but I don't think it will get past the marketing types.

My bet will be it will take place if the Obama declares amnesty or a gun grab by executive order. One or more states will simply not acknowledge what is a blatantly unconstitutional act and refused to allow the ATF or FBI enforce the executive order.

Most Americans don’t even know what “Secession” means, much less have the ability to pass an opinion on the possibility. These polls are ridiculous. They’re way above the heads of a majority of Americans.

25 years from now there won’t be anything from which to secede.

I'm staying and hope you are too. Stay and kick ass. If it takes guns, guts, etc. than that is what will be used. Hopefully it can be done peacefully by removing that cancer we call congress and start over with new blood. The Founding Fathers gave us a map, all we have to do is read it.

What you will see is a splitting up of single states. Mostly by “Latinos”. California, Arizona, Texas and Florida.

To add to the discussion in this article, this fascinating FR thread on the subject of a political divorce among the states (a virtual secession) is well worth visiting or revisiting and reading through all the comments:

Does U.S. Need to Split Along Political Lines?

If obama gets re-elected, do you think it will take 25 years?

I wish it would, but not gonna happen.

“State” doesn’t mean anything any more. The federal government has cut the legs off the states and made them dependent on it. Although there is no constitutional authority to do so, the federal government has usurped all the power that properly belongs to the states.

If one nationally respected voice legitimized the idea the percentage would go from 12 to 25 in a month.

(Matthew 18:8-9)

If your hand or your foot causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life maimed or crippled than to have two hands or two feet and be thrown into eternal fire. And if your eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into the fire of hell.

The litany of secession:

If a state or states causes socialism, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for a Free Republic to go on maimed or crippled than to have all its states and together be thrown into the eternal fire of collectivism. And if the Federal Government causes you to sin; secede from it, peacefully hopefully but secede just the same.. It is better to govern as a sovereign state, smaller and diminished in power than to be thrown into the fire of centralized Federal usurpation
