Huckabee says polling shows he's best Republican to take on Obama in 2012

Mike Huckabee said Sunday he's the strongest Republican to take on President Obama in 2012.

"I end up leading a lot of the polls," the former Arkansas governor told "Fox News Sunday." "I’m the Republican that clearly at this point does better against Obama than any other Republican."

Huckabee said he hasn't made up his mind about running, but suggested he's strongly considering it.

“I haven’t closed the door. I think that would be foolish on my part, especially when poll after poll shows that there is strong sentiment out there," he said.

Do you think he and Palin should both go away?

I don't think either should go away. But I don't think the media and pollsters should start telling the country which candidate is "most electable". I think it sways a lot of people who are desperate for a Republican to win.

For example Palin's biggest problem is that the media has painted her as "unelectable". Probably not true but most people I know throw that right back at me if I mention her name. I guess I'd just like to be able to pick a candidate because of their beliefs and policies, not their perceived chances of winning.

I think she is electible. I just don't think she is qualified.

Sorry to run away, I’m making Sunday potroast. I’m not well versed in politics and most decisions that I make about candidates are based on years of observing their actions and records in the media. Years ago, I made a judgement about Inhof from remarks that he made and positions that he took on different issues of the time. I don’t remember what they even were now but I considered him a bit of a hot-head. Then about a year ago, I listened to a decision that he made in connection with his position on the Arm Services Committee. His point of view was nuanced and so well-reasoned. I wondered if he had aged and mellowed or had just blossomed into this thoughtful leader. My opinion of him went way up. Much the same thing happened with Bobby Jindal. These last few months,he has shown enormous care and honesty and down-to-earth leadership abilities in dealing with the oil spill in his state. He rolled up his shirt sleeves, slid into his bluejeans and went to work.

I don’t want to vote for either of them, though. I am so fearful of the vulnerable position of the country that I really want to vote for a military leader. I want a big mean man who will restore our “number 1” status. I want America on top and dominating the rest of the world forever. We have been blessed by God and our next leader needs to know that and appreciate it and fight for it or I won’t be voting for him.

I’m sorry if this sounds like some cornball rant. I guess it is but this is how I feel about it.

No one should have to see their president sauntering along with a smirky grin on his face and sunglasses carrying a copy of that book about “A Post America World” or whatever it was called. Bowing to his Saudi masters. Good Grief. I am severely traumatized over this asshole presidency.

Chris Christie is not the only politician that I would support, but he is the only one that I trust.

Palin, God bless her, would be a disaster.

I love Inhofe. I don’t think he’ll run, though.

He may have been good on the issues, but he was a terrible candidate.

Sarah Palin is both good on the issues, and a good candidate. Of course whether or not she is the best candidate remains to be determined.
