Since Turkey is now oriented away from the West, we should in turn support the establishment of a Kurdish state. THAT would garner the Turks’ attention!

The vampire Turkmen can never repay what they have looted and stolen from the righful owners of the land. They can never be forgiven for the horrors they perpetrated on the Christian populations of Asia minor - 4 million dead. They could start by the restitution and reparations to the survivors of the genocide of 1915-1923.

They will not. They are Muslims and Muslims do not do ask for forgiveness from infidels.

Actually, they couldn’t. Iraq might have a problem with it, irregardless of Obama. Best thing is to just have a carrier group (does Israel have those?) just outside the Gulf, and fly ‘em straight in.

As a practical matter, I suspect in a war-time situation Israel can fly anywhere it damn well pleases. I think they demonstrated that in the Syria raid a while back. The only one that could stop Israel is the US, and I think Bibi is smart enough to plan for October and bet that Zero has neither the balls nor the control of the military to deploy US forces against Israel, short of Israel directly attacking US interests (and Israel has even gotten away with that is the past - see the USS Liberty). Especially not the month before an election where things aren’t exactly looking good for the ‘Rats.

If it weren’t for the Cold War and Turkey’s presence next to the Soviet Union, they would already have gone under. Even with our massive military support they fell on hard times and stayed there.

The Turkish Air Force has 930 airplanes in its inventory. Thrd in NATO in terms of fleet size, behind the USAF and RAF.Turkey is one of five NATO member states which are part of the nuclear sharing policy of the alliance, together with Belgium, Germany, Italy and the Netherlands. A total of 90 B61 nuclear bombs are hosted at the Incirlik Air Base, 40 of which are allocated for use by the Turkish Air Force in case of a nuclear conflict, but their use requires the approval of NATO.

To whom? The Byzantine Empire? You have a mailing address for those guys?

The Eastern Orthodox Church and other fellow Christians deserve to have what the Muslims stole from them.

Constantinople was conquered 550 years ago. If Christians deserve "reparations" for lands conquered 550 years ago, then there are a hell of a lot of people on every continent who deserve reparations as well, including Americans Indians. No dice -- unless you want to give North America back to the Iroquois.

If Israel was attacking Iran, they could go over Iraq. In fact, they could refuel in Iraq.

I think the point is more that, up until recently Israeli pilots could train over Iraq. As magnificent a country as Israel is, their small size means that conducting air force exercises is difficult, other than at sea where who knows waht or who may observe them. In terms of attacking Iran, it's irrelevant - if Israel's military history teaches us anything, it's that they will do what they have to to get the job done, whether that entails crossing neutral or supposedly friendly airspace or not. Israel's military thinking is always sound, although their dipacy and peacetime thinking often lacks that rigour.

Time to revoke their NATO membership and retrieve those 90 B61 nuclear bombs.
