Statement from Larry King Posted: 07:10 PM ET

=======================================================================

SNIP SNIP

"I’ll still be a part of the CNN family, hosting several Larry King specials on major national and international subjects.

I’m incredibly proud that we recently made the Guinness Book of World Records for having the longest running show with the same host in the same time slot. With this chapter closing I’m looking forward to the future and what my next chapter will bring, but for now it’s time to hang up my nightly suspenders."

RE: Hasn’t he been 76 years old for 30 years?

As if you did not know, Larry King was born Lawrence Harvey Zeiger; November 19, 1933.

For comparison, Walter Cronkite retired in 1980 at the age of 66.

Dan Rather “retired” from CBS in 2006 ( Age 75 ). But then, he has since resumed his career with HDNet, a high-definition cable television station as a producer and hosts a weekly one-hour show called Dan Rather Reports (if you care to see it ).

Needs more time to land wife #10 who will ofcourse be under the age of 40. She ofcourse won’t be in it for the money.

Gosh, now who will slow-pitch softball grapefruit questions to scandalized celebrities trying to clear their names?

You and your show sucked for a reason, Larry.

You know your cable network really stinks when Larry King can’t take anymore and bails out.

...hope he’s invited to a slew of retirement parties for his democratic rat friends in both the Senate and Congress come November, and his last wife takes him for all he’s worth. Other than that, have a nice life.

I don’t recall ever watching a full show, but the best recollection was the night he had Donald Trump on...King was pitching the Garlique capsules in ads. During the course of the conversation, they leaned closer to each other....to at one point Trump blurts out:

“Larry, you’ve got the worst breath of anyone I’ve met.”

I’m incredibly proud that we recently made the Guinness Book of World Records for having the longest running show with the same host in the same time slot.

He's probably up for the most marriages (and largest age difference) record, and he shares lowest ratings with Kieth Olberman.

When I read the title my first thought was "Is Larry finally going to use a belt?"

the only reason he’s been on tv this long is the same reason that Baba Walters is still on....they belong to a certain ethnic clique...IMO and I am entitled to my opinion.....

Now they can move Client #9 (aka “the John and his Lady”) to the 9 PM time slot and have The Ron Burgundy Hour as the lead-in. Rick Sanchez (the dumbest man on TV) can explore such exciting themes as “can you have volcanoes in cold places,” “how long is 90 meters” and “how to get a .15 blood alcohol count just by watching the Dolphins.”

Has anyone actually seen Larry King and Oprah Winfrey in the same place? It seems like too much of a coincidence.

Maybe King’s decided he just can’t compete with Elliot Spitzer...

Yawn. In more interesting news, Paraguay made it to the quarterfinals for the first time ever in FIFA World Cup soccer...
