ABC News' Rick Klein reports: Oklahoma Sen. Tom Coburn has provided some of the most contentious exchanges of the rather tame Elena Kagan confirmation hearings. He's raised questions about Kagan's generally liberal political beliefs, and contends that Kagan would usher in vast expansions of government power as a member of the Supreme Court.
On ABC/Washington Posts Top Line today, Coburn ratcheted up his critique of Kagan, saying she hasnt been as forthcoming about her views as she should be, and questioning her interpretation of the Constitutions Commerce Clause as well as her expressed willingness to follow court precedents.
I think the thing that's very worrisome is that she has a very expansive view of the Commerce Clause, and I find that she's ignorant of the Constitution's limitation of that, especially what our Founders wrote, Coburn, R-Okla., told us.

NO to a lifetime appointment that impacts millions of lives.
The Libs think the Presidency and related appointments are like a Birthday Pony: everybody should get a chance to ride.
Nevermind the qualifications, it’s THEIR turn (in this case “their” being ignorant, bumbling, unqualified lesbians)
Really! Say it is so! I can’t believe any of these promises any more but boy, it they filibustered, it would be very encouraging.
Hopefully Kagan will get Miered in the hearing process.
Coburn would have perhaps been better off asking a question about the government's ability to regulate an individual's diet, absent the reference to the Commerce Clause.
Clearly from Kagan's albeit brief answer, she doesn't seem to have many boundaries with respect to that central question.
It seems to me if the Court is going to so broadly interpret the basket or commerce clauses to allow the government to jail people for not eating veggies, then there really isn't any practical limitations to what they can do. How someone reconciles that with the intent of the Framers, is a mystery.
Same with Obama, Behind closed doors they must be laughing at what they can get away with. They have control of MSM and Americans are too trusting. It is crucial that we keep control of the Internet off limits to this group as a tool to counter this.
PA is full of liberals, and there is nothing you can ever do there. Toomey is trying to court liberals too, just as he attack Specter for doing.
The American people are beyond the point of embarrassment about anything.
Yes it is, but it was Orrin Hatch's signature remark, when he was Chair of the Senate Judicial Committee, and I heard him repeat it last week on Greta's show.
So what if she’s Obammuer’s pick? She is the one who will force lib ideas upon Americans. Can’t these Senators think about us for once? Can’t they understand that her decisions affect all of us - not obama. He gets a free pass from everyone and I’m sick of it.

I wouldn't rule out half a dozen Republicans crossing over to override the filibuster, either.
It's not "liberal political beliefs." Her beliefs are socialistic. She is a socialist to the core.
What they are BLIND to is the fact that confrontation of the leftist overthrow of America is what is generating their current support.
Filibuster will bring ADDITIONAL support to the GOP.
another American anti-capitalist, anti Israel Jewish Socialist.
Yeesh, the 60-70’s are coming back with a vengence...those were stupid, ignorant theories espoused by goofy, half stoned kids in their 20’s then who thought that wearing Trotsky glasses and a “Power to the People” T shirt and facing off with Police using tear gas..made you a ‘violent” revolutionary.
It is frightening to think that the likes of Kagan, Sotomier, and Bill Ayers are now in positions of power.
Coburn alone could force a cloture vote, if he were willing to take the floor for 72 hours straight and "debate" by reading the entire bible cover to cover (a feat which, amazingly enough, takes about 72 hours). You just stall the vote until they force cloture. It helps to have others on board, but if Coburn is serious, he should take the step. Any Republican who votes for cloture, should be a target for un-election.
Boy I hope they do filibuster her nomination. What she would be replacing does not exhibit the same degree of distain for the Constitutional values as she does. Plus, anyone who does not show a respect for the life of an infant is morally encumbered to begin with. Given that, I hope we can find some Republicans with enough backbone to try to block her. She definitely is everything Obama said in his campaign that he would look for in a Supreme Court Justice. And that’s just the point!
