Sen. Robert Byrd makes final journey to the Senate
AM Radio Broadcast | July 1, 2010 | Me

Sen. Robert Byrd has returned to the to the chamber where he served more than a half-century for one final visit. A hearse bearing the remains of the late West Virginia Democrat, who served in Congress longer than anyone else in the nation's history, arrived this morning in front of the long marble stairway leading to the Senate chamber.

Byrd's body will remain in the Senate chamber today for colleagues and the public to pay respects. The last time the Senate chamber served such a purpose was for North Dakota Republican William Langer in 1959, the year Byrd entered the Senate.

We're all human but this peckerwood was a disgrace to this country.... and his KKK face made me sick every time I saw it over the years...

Just my two cents...

It’s entirely appropriate that Byrd LIE in repose in the Senate chamber. After all, this entire parliament of whores have honed LYING into a fine art form that can continue to be practiced even after death.

Now that he's passed on, maybe they should name a building or bridge or something like that after Byrd. I'd hate to see his name fade into history...

Builds, By-Ways and Bridge Carries Byrd's Name

[Joe Bite-me, in the Rotunda:]

“On this sad occasion, let’s have a word from the elder statesman of the Senate, Robert Byrd — c’mon Bob, stand up!

What am I saying? .... let’s all stand up for Bob!”

My wife hails from WV. I have it on good authority that there are still two manhole covers in Huntington, WV and three stop signs in Bluefield, WV, that are not named after Sheets Byrd.....

In related news, Senator Edward Kennedy has been alcohol free for 10 months.

Memorial Service. That explains the rush orders on white hoods at all the dry cleaners this week.

Over Byrd's career, he brought home 3.3 bil in pork.

Question for his voters: Where do you think all that money came from?

As I suggested earlier, they should turn the catafalque upside down so it resembles a pig trough and then place the casket inside it. That would be a fitting tribute for a man who viewed every federal dollar spent outside of West Virginia to be wasted.

However, if Teddy were still alive, the embalming fluid in Sheets would go missing.

Someone make sure he doesn’t try to cast any votes while he’s laying there
