On Wednesday at 10:40 p.m. law enforcement officers from several agencies were working a detail in the area of Highway 84 and White and Parker Road in Stanfield. A white SUV pulled off of the roadway near where officers from the Gila River Police Department were working.
Using night vision goggles from a distance, the officers observed two individuals in the vehicle appearing to have consensual sexual intercourse. Prior to the officers making contact, the male and female got out of the vehicle and began to argue.
The officers later learned that the male subject was only 14 years old, and the female was identified as 26-year-old Andrea Martinez, a schoolteacher with the Stanfield Elementary School District and a former teacher of the victim.
Both individuals admitted to having sexual intercourse with each other prior to being contacted by officers. Additionally, the victim reported that he had sexual intercourse last month with Ms. Martinez.
Martinez was arrested by Pinal County sheriff's detectives and will be booked this afternoon into the Pinal County Adult Detention Facility.
Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu stated, "It is very upsetting that an adult would take advantage of a child, especially when the adult is placed in a position of trust such as Ms. Martinez. I am very thankful that PCSO detectives and the officers from the Gila River Police Department worked quickly together to put Ms. Martinez behind bars."
The Stanfield Elementary School District was notified of the arrest and is cooperating fully with the investigation.
Dolled up & with beer googles on.
That's a very unfortunate typo given the topic of the thread....
Great post.
lol
Agreed. It’s really sick.
They’ve been together for longer than a good number of married couples.
I was a 14 year old boy once, and I wouldn’t call this child abuse. The boy came back for more, seems to me. On the spectrum, this one is closer to fantasy fulfillment than ‘child abuse.’
I just don’t see where the people who are outraged by these adult female on young male dalliances. Trust me, the boys in most of these cases are very willing participants.
Lots of men had first or early experiences with older women, for a variety of reasons. Most of those males suffered no emotional damage. The truth is the truth.
I was hoping you wouldn’t notice that......
It’s really more of an issue of abuse of power. Do you really want school teachers of either sex having sexual relationships with students? Seriously?
The abuse of power argument is more compelling, I agree with that. I don’t see this case as a matter of child abuse.
That being said, it is not uncommon for college and graduate school teachers have romantic relationships with students. The abuse of power dynamic is present there, too, but it’s not really all that scandalous.
Yet another classy female teacher. Incredible
I think they may be married now. She’s gorgeous. Daughter of a chemist so probably pretty smart. Nutty as a fruitcake.
Yes, but it creates issues for the students who don’t have the advantage of sleeping with the person who gives them their grades.
I agree with you. These relationships should be discouraged, mainly on the abuse of power grounds. And I agree, they raise questions of fairness, even if the teacher is fair to the others in the class.
And also, relationships in advanced education are essentially between adults, so even if you have a wide disparity in ages, they are both ostensibly old enough to made informed decisions.
It’s best if those college and grad school relationships are put on hold until the student finishes the prof’s class.
The thing that bothers me about these the most is that parents have the right to expect teachers to protect their kids, not engage in this sort of behavior with them. I was a teacher and I felt that I was to be a role model. Not their friend, not their sexual partner, etc. This is clearly a person in a position of authority abusing that authority, regardless of the sex of either party. Its why a boss should not solicit sex from an employee (altho it happens).

Yup. Teenage boys can be incredibly dangerous, stupid, out-of-control, sexual, etc. Same boy is also vulnerable and childish and needs adults to give them so guidance and safe places in their lives. Like a home. A school. A church etc.
Yes, I agree. We just went to our 35 HS reunion. One of the teachers married a student in my husband’s class (he graduated the year before me). They didn’t date until she graduated, but it was a little scandalous at the time, but they are still married all these years later, and very happy. My Dad was 26 and my Mom 17 when they got married (she had just graduated from HS and they knew each other exactly 6 weeks and had had 1 date!) so, age isn’t always an issue. However, a high school student with a high school teacher is something to be discouraged. It is fraught with problems (even if on occasion it is really about real love—it can wait).
College students are adults, altho I saw many lecherous professors who were less mature than their students! What a haven for Lefty jerks Universities are!
Well, we now have stupid people at the highest levels of power. What are we to expect...
Well you're obviously correct. The fact that she looks pretty good in full makeup doesn't mitigate her guilt (assuming for the purpose of debate that she is guilty). Nor am I saying that this should not be a crime. Obviously she's a little sick in the head and I feel bad for what she has done to her life. But as to the issue of the boy; no, he's not going to be "damaged" in the least.
Don’t ping me again, you’ve been warned.
