Federal Police: US Consulate Worker Killed For Providing Rival Gang Visas

MEXICO CITY -- A top drug gang enforcer said he ordered the killing of a U.S. consulate worker because she helped provide visas to a rival gang in the border city of Ciudad Juarez, federal police said Friday.

Jesus Ernesto Chavez (aka El Camello), whose arrest was announced on Friday, leads a band of hit men for a street gang tied to the Juarez cartel, said Ramon Pequeno, the head of anti-narcotics for the federal police.

Pequeno said Chavez ordered the March 13 attack that killed U.S. consulate employee Lesley Enriquez and her husband as they drove through the violent city toward a border crossing to the U.S. Pequeno said Chavez told police that Enriquez was targeted because she helped provide visas to a rival gang.

The suggestion that drug gangs may have won influence within the U.S. diplomatic mission runs counter to previous statements by U.S. Embassy officials that Enriquez was never in a position to provide visas and worked in a section that provides basic services to U.S. citizens in Mexico.

I am a little puzzled by this, because it’s not clear to me if she was like that unfortunate Alabama motor vehicles official who was burned to death in her car after providing fake ID’s to Muslims who wanted to silence her, or if this was part of this woman’s job at the consulate and perhaps the gang had told her not to do it and were exacting revenge because she performed her job.

Either way, I’m worried. Mexico has elections coming up, and it looks like they’re going to elect the PRI (think Dems) again. The PAN (Calderon’s party, think GOP) has been trying to get a grip on the drug problem, which is why it flared up; if Mexicans reelect the PRI, this means Mexico has given up and will become a narco-state. It was verging on this before under the PRI - everybody had their bribery and corruption channels and Swiss bank accounts in place - and I guess Mexico has decided that it doesn’t want to be a genuine functioning state or economy.

When Calderon came to the US, he came to ask for help in the fight against the drug gangs, which was the help Colombia got when Reagan was president and which, after nearly 20 years, has enabled Colombia to take control of its own country again. But Obama manipulated him to make a few stupid statements and promised him virtually no help.

If anybody here really thinks Obama wants to put an end to the (leftist funding) drug gangs in Mexico, I’ve got a bridge I can sell them.

Evidently, according to the Feds, Mexico has standing to join in the court case against Arizona, but Virginia doesn’t have standing to fight citizens being forced to buy health insurance. Go figure.

sounds like a cover story to me, to ambush and kill a US diplomatic worker and her husband in front of their child, over “visas”

It’s not like someone else in the consulate isn’t just going to keep issuing visas

I suspect this lady was involved in more than issuing visas-either officially, or unofficially

and American citizens have no standing to demand Pres_ _ent Obama’s birth certificate.

“Virginia doesn’t have standing to fight citizens being forced to buy health insurance”

Incredible. I only vaguely recall this. When did it happen?

A cover story?

This man, Jesus Ernesto Chavez (aka El Camello), could have killed the wrong person. More likely, like you’ve sai, he just likes to kill. It gives him a feeling of power, a thrill.

Another possibility is that she provided illegitmate visas to a favored gang and a rival sought revenge. Then I remember who is the Secretary of State, and I am sure that none of us will ever learn the truth.

Yep, We The People have no standing. Is that in the Constitution, or Marbury vs. Madison? :-)

Here is a a post from last November that I happened to bookmark. It was during the time of the tense situation in Honduras where the Hondurans got rid of a corrupt, Marxist dictator-in-waiting (think Democrat) and the Ubama administration naturally took the Marxist's side and tried to get him re-installed as president.

I believe that whatever Ubama and the Democrats wanted for Honduras they certainly want for Mexico, and that would be doing whatever they can to help turn Mexico into a Marxist narco state.

All of these border workers need to be given polygraphs. I’m sure corruption down there is rampant allowing untold criminals to legally pass through our borders.

You DID see where Obama's Big Bankster Buddies @ Wells Fargo & Wachovia were helping the Mexican drug gangs launder money, didn't you?:

I agree 100%. Mexico has had a rocky past, and it's almost remarkable that it survives to this day - and nobody ever points out that it survives only because it is next door to the United States.

We mustn't forget that Mexico was stuffed with very early Communists (Trotsky was exiled and died there) and that these people had connections with the US "socialist workers parties."

I think we are seeing a strange situation now where the US went ahead and elected a radical Marxist and suddenly the pressure on Mexico to act like a rational state has gone. As I said, Calderon came here to plead for aid, with only marginal success, mostly because Obama is committed to taking Mexico back to the Communist path that it embarked on at the turn of the last century.
