Immigration Reform Starts with Border Security and Enforcement (Duncan D. Hunter)

Washington DC – Following remarks on immigration reform by President Obama, Congressman Hunter reiterated the call that responsible reform starts with stronger border security and enforcement.

“Once again, President Obama missed a valuable opportunity to assure the American people that his Administration will do what it takes to secure America’s borders and enforce the rule of law," said Congressman Hunter. "At one point during the remarks, he called blanket amnesty a bad idea, saying it ‘could lead to a surge in more illegal immigration,’ but then proceeded to call for a ‘pathway to legal status.’ This still means amnesty for millions of illegal immigrants, regardless of how the President attempts to disguise or mislead the American people on his intentions.

“The focus must stay on strengthening border security and enforcing existing immigration laws, including laws that regulate the workplace. Any approach that does not put security and enforcement first should be rejected outright. Only when this occurs should we begin to discuss reforming other aspects of our nation’s immigration system.

“The President needs to prove that he will do these things before attempting to initiate any comprehensive reform of immigration policy. Americans were told in 1986 that, after a one-time amnesty, the borders would be secure. We are still waiting over twenty years later, which is one reason, among others, why Americans distrust government so much. So let’s get our priorities in order and prove to the American people that we are serious about putting security and enforcement first.”

All this while you're building the biggest, highest strongest fences and guardposts you can.

While it might work swimmingly along NW, Arizona and Cali, the Rio Grande area, not so much.

I have heard of sending our troops down to the border and predator drones. While that might be great against the drug cartels, I have a better idea.

This country is plagued with rogue, shaved head LEOs, who can't tell the difference between a Tazer and a Glock; who can't reliably compare and match an address on a warrant with the number posted on the curb, mailbox and door; who find kittens and lap dogs as mortal threats that quickly must be neutralized for their own safety; who think that planted evidence is good police work; who finds a good beat-down or tazing of an everyday citizen a part of his personal mental and physical health care plan. I think we have been wrong about trying to cover up their crimes through promotion or the occasional dance of the lemons move. What we should do is leverage this sociopathic behavior for our benefit; to channel this misanthropy into a public good; to bring a smile to our faces and a little perk to our step.

We should reassign these cretins to the borders. They already have a well disciplined code of "honor" among their tribe - and that is to Shoot, Shovel and Shutup. Take this steroid fueled homicidal rage, thuggery and cro-magnon behavior and apply it to those who are still stupid enough to survive the desert heat. When the drug smuggler emerges from the thicket, he will be greated with our familiar nija clad goon who finds a good beating or CNS shot better than a weekend pack of Viagra.

This is one case where I wouldn't mind their usual cover-ups, hiding behind the thin blue line, watching each other's back as atrocity after atrocity is played out as in some grim depraved ritual. Word would get out quickly to the other losers. Who knows, they might catch some terrorists and keep them for a week as some sort of play toy before giving up what is lef of them to the nocturnal omnivores.

Our government already covers up and apologizes for this behavior, they already stone-wall and keep reminding us that this mindless brutality is part of regular police procedure. There is nothing left to change except their patrol zones, and maybe a bonus or two, not for writing extra traffic violations, but by some other metrics like fewest survived border incursions, or increased quantity of well fed wolves, coyotes and buzzards.
