Each place you are referred to is very interesting: Since our founding in 1970 by veterans of the civil rights movement, the Institute for Southern Studies has established a national reputation as an essential resource for grassroots activists, community leaders, scholars, policy makers and others working to bring lasting social and economic change to the region.

They backed EVIL INCARNATE obama for President and they gave him 1 MILLION dollar$ for is 2008 PAC... they want one to sign away all of their rights to revisit liability if you accept their little pittance of a settlement, including the right to sue them later if needed... they are lying in every ad that they put on TV today... trying to salvage their reputation and they knew 6 months before the well blew out that they had problems and they worked the system so that they did not have to deal with those problems... thereby saving themselves millions... and see what that has brought to us. They are evil because their company supports and enables the evil that is destroying every facet of the American Dream. Evil is as evil does... and BP is plenty evil.

If what you report is accurate - BP is just WHACKED. A major international corporation that just happens to be run by nutjobs.

Once again, CNN is catching up.

I heard about this last week. It was part of BP’s assurance that they would take care of the bills.

It is only logical that they would want to ensure they are not getting ripped off.

It may also be that this allows them control over the exposure of the ‘facts’ to the public. Once again, that is how most corporations and politicians work together to deal with a large scale situation.

So far, I see nothing that BP has been doing SINCE the spill, that does not seem logical nor necessary.

Most of the time issues such as the subject of this article are just the MEDIA and GOVERNMENT trying to divert you from noticing that they enabled this whole mess, and don’t have the leadership or skills to deal with it in a timely fashion.

You get the error message ("connection was reset") that makes it look like it didn't get through.

Naw.... it's not FR's servers.

It's the new GOVERNMENT INTERNET MANAGEMENT PROTOCOL (GIMP).

Each time you get that message it's because they tapped into your IP ADDRESS.

Here’s something to throw into the mix.

The same Lawyer who managed the 911 Disaster Fund, is managing the BP Disaster Fund.

It looks like you are correct - BP is “evil”, but there is plenty of that to go around...including our own governmental “watchdogs”.

Isn’t it odd that the Federal government in the form of the Coast Guard, EPA, OSHA and Dept of Homeland Security is constantly second guessing and preventing prevention and clean up efforts by Louisiana and Mississippi but BP can pretty much do whatever it wants without government oversight. BP = large campaign contributor to 0bama 2008 and LA and MS voted for McCain.

Not when you consider that Democrat Politicians have always sold out to the highest bidder, regardless of nationality.

The USUAL SUSPECTS...and I’m not talking about the movie.

What gets me is the knee jerk Leftie BS that Bush oil connections make him automatically guilty.

When all along it is the Dumscum behind everything that is happening.

I think it important to point out that there will be some places evacuation is needed, and we need to respond.

But, it will not some global catastrophe. This is relatively one of the world's smaller spills.

So far. It isn't over yet.

I believe this is an internet miscommunication.

The original story was that BP would not allow private contractors to conduct cleanup operations WITHOUT wearing BP approved protective gear.

That’s what happens to stories when they pass from one person to another , one website to another.

We used to play a game where each person whispered something to the next in line until it got back to the beginning. Needless to say, the message got lost in the shuffle.

This is no more than an internet rumor based on the original story that BP wouldn’t allow private contractors to do cleanup without wearing BP approved protective clothing.

Anyone who disagrees is welcome to provide a source.

Here is the link for where the rumors are coming from. Note that the story provides no actual source for the comment.

http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=19789

Here is a transcript and video of the rules that are being issued/used/discussed

http://workinprogress.firedoglake.com/2010/06/23/liveblog-hearing-on-oil-rig-and-cleanup-worker-health-and-safety/

Here’s another decent informational source on what is happening, and whether the equipment BP requires is protecting the workers.

http://www.asq.org/qualitynews/qnt/execute/displaySetup?newsID=8953

The most injury seems to be from heat exhaustion due to the confining and heavy protective gear.

So, how would it be that they are denied protective gear?

”While this is important information to have, additional testing is needed to further inform the use of dispersants. The next phase of EPA’s testing will assess at the acute toxicity of multiple concentrations of Louisiana Sweet Crude Oil alone and combinations of Louisiana Sweet Crude Oil with each of the eight dispersants for two test species.”

Uh, they're testing for toxicity ON FISH (or more correctly aquatic life). Not people. EPA often does expanded testing for materials for which test data already exists (as here).

"So, the Obama EPA is totally trustworthy. Okey doke."

Like any federal agency, they are wrong on some things, and right on others. I would put the EPA's attempts to regulate CO2 in the former, and the BP spill in the latter. The monitoring data being collected and published speaks for itself. It is hard to fake that much data that quickly.
