“...including Senator John McCain of Arizona who wrote an editorial in USA Today.”
The race must be tighter than reported.
Another disingenuous feint to the right by McCain. If he wasn’t facing a primary challenge he’d be giving Kagan a free pass and attacking Arizona’s illegal alien law.
Sorry McCain. You can do NOTHING to erase your sorry-assed record.
Go away and read Obama books.
They’re at your intellectual level.
Elena Kagan is a perfect choice for Bambi- absolutely NO experience for the job; a die-hard, agenda-heavy ideologue; not a grain of horse sense....
yup. Perfect.
I don’t care if McCain is pretending,at this point I just want his vote.
I still think in the end, we are going to be stuck with her. No way enough opposition could be raised to thwart her appointment.
Ditto here. If his vote stands in the way of Kagan getting confirmed, I'm good with it. At this point, I don't care about his motives.
yeah, it would have taken an historically massive mistake during her testimony to keep her off the court. In our minds, she made several major gaffes that showed her ill-suited for the position, but nothing big enough to scare off all the GOP and 5-10 Dem Senators.
Are you kidding me, a shoe size 8 senators??? That’s all???
Little late out the gate on this one, hey John? Sorry, no ones watching your kabuki dance anymore.
“I dont care if McCain is pretending,at this point I just want his vote.”
Oh, good....Juan finally becomes a useful idiot for ~conservatives~.
>>Are you kidding me, a shoe size 8 senators??? Thats all???<<
I’m dumbfounded by this. She is utterly unqualified and the record demonstrates it. As recently as 20 years ago, such a candidate would be laughed out of the running.
This country has lost it. I think I’ll watch Idiocracy again tonight...
“Kagan received 31 no votes when she was nominated to be Solicitor General and she will likely receive more this time around, though it is unclear whether any Republicans will mount a filibuster — which would be hard pressed to receive 40 votes to be sustained.
Senator Arlen Specter, the pro-abortion Democrat who voted against Kagan when he was a Republican and was critical of her recent testimony, could wind up as the only vote against Kagan from Democrats on the Judiciary Committee. Though whether he would go as far as supporting a filibuster is another question.”
Present GOP leadership simply lacks the balls to stop this witch and her Muslim Puppeteer. All this posturing about not supporting her is another RINO Kabuki Show. If they were SERIOUS about keeping this unqualified Marxist Menace off SCOTUS, they would re-locate their backbones, guts and testacles and filibuster her appointment. And Boehner would the guts he obviously lacks to squeeze the life out of any GOP Senator who threatened not to support it.
Kagan needs to be stopped. Delaying the nomination will help the GOP find more opponents to this Marxist.
There needs to be a scorched earth policy here. If Kagan is confirmed, she needs to be bruised and bloodied in the process of receiving 51 votes.
BORK KAGAN!
Let me guess, all eight are up for reelection this year!
McCain voted yes for the other progressive scumbags on the court, why change now?
I cannot help the fact mccain is an idiot but I will take the vote of an idiot if it slows down the demise of this country.
As recently as 20 years ago, such a candidate would be laughed out of the running.
Less than five years ago pretty much the same thing happened to President Buhs’s nominee Harriet Miers. She withdrew within a month of being annouced if I remember correctly.
That was a crony pick of what was supposed to be an unknowable quantity (how does one decide Aye/Nay on a "black box"? Where's the accountability?), torpedoed by opposition entirely from his own side! Kagan, in stark contrast, has the support of the president's party hacks in the Senate. She's as good as confirmed.
