Democratic Governors Point Finger at D.C.
Politico ^ | 7/11/2010 | Jonathan Martin

BOSTON – Democratic governors facing grim budget choices, lingering unemployment and angry voters are pointing a finger at their colleagues in Democratic-controlled Washington to explain this year’s toxic political climate.

Few will fault President Barack Obama directly for their party’s plight heading into the fall midterm elections, but the chief executives gathered here for the National Governors Association (NGA) meeting believe the Congress and White House have made an already difficult year worse.

While almost uniformly grateful for the financial windfall they enjoyed from the stimulus legislation, the Democrats believe it wasn’t sold well to the public and more still has to be done to revive the lagging economy.

“I think the bottom line is they’re not seeing the jobs that should have came from it,” said West Virginia Gov. Joe Manchin, explaining why voters in his state were dissatisfied with the massive spending bill. “Are we just protecting government or are we really stimulating the economy? Maybe it’s too early too tell.”

Colorado Gov. Bill Ritter said expectations for the immediate impact of bill were set too high.

“They may have oversold the job creation part of it,” observed Ritter, whose 2006 election heralded a Democratic resurgence in the Mountain West and whose decision not to run for re-election this year has illustrated the party’s declining fortunes in the region.

“They’re not satisfied with the pace of job recovery that they expected when the Recovery Act was passed,” he said of his state’s citizens. “Whether the President of the United States inherited this situation or not, he’s now owning it. For the federal government, this administration and the Congress to have not delivered [jobs] more quickly has become the problem.”

Ah, I see now. The problem was not that Obama's stimulus was a epic failure- the problem (despite Obama's "brilliant" oratorical skills) was in the *marketing* of the stimulus...

Dems, I hate to break this to you, but the first of the Twelve Steps to overcoming any addiction is admitting that you have a problem...

They, the Dems, got in bed with Zero in 2008 and now they have to live with his failures. This is systemic and the only way to fix it is to first vote republican across the board, then dismantle the Federal leviathan.

I have two words for them - F Them!

They engaged in a coverup to elect a islamo-marxist usurper backed by ALL of the media epsecially TV. The 5 Networks own 95% of the channels and Fox/Saudia is only marginally better. The media wanted a chunk of the 2008 $700 million in Saudi campaign money.

Until Americans tell the TV elites who back him 100% to shove their cable and sat TV up their arses then NOTHING will change. The serfs will accept serfdom if they can have TV.

The dems want more more more money from D.C.

I bet the dem governors will get more money to fix their budgets so there will be less belt tightening before the mid term election.

Colorado Gov. Bill Ritter said expectations for the immediate impact of bill were set too high.

ironic; because one year ago when I questioned the hardcore dumbama disciples about where were all the jobs the stimulus was suppose to create they towed the WH line- the bulk of the stimulus money was set to be spent in 2010...

now- in a form true to their dear leader, I bring up the topic then mock them....

High federal taxes mean that states must cut taxes. More federal borrowing means that homeowners can’t refinance their high interest mortgages or buy new cars.

But according to the politicians, it’s all the fault of the “free market” (which doesn’t even exist anymore).

Anyone with a basic understanding of economics knew that Porkulus wasn't about creating jobs and was never going to create jobs.

As if any Democrat governor understands this.

The local pols keep pouring Federal $$$ down ratholes.

For example, Nashua, New Hampshire, wants to spend your tax dollars “revitalizing” parts of the downtown that (in the 40 years I’ve lived here) have always been pits.

And check out this quote from Nashua’s economic development director:

“With the color of my skin, and growing up in the suburbs, frankly, it’s hard for me to reach out to the folks we want to reach out to,” said Galligani, who is white.

I find it *interesting* that he’s quoted in this article.

Dems are economic morons. The stimulus bailed out banks and other limited allocations. A massive across the board tax cuts would have stimulated multiple sectors of the economy.
Drop the capital gains tax to 5% or less and corporations will hire again. Now Obamacare and other hideous taxes/fees will just stifle further economic growth. That the ruling ‘Rats refuse to apply proven successful methods reveals their incompetent and/or criminal Big Govt. designs.

“Whether the President of the United States inherited this situation or not, he’s now owning it.”

Bill Ritter (CO) finally speaks the truth, though too late to save himself.

Ya think?

Those shovel-ready jobs were, hopefully, to dig the graves of many a Democrat career.

Which, in their minds, means that we the "leetle people" are too dumb to understand or appreciate what is being done for us.

Stimulus = Good
Proletariat = Stupid
