Mika: ‘Cut The Crap’ On Whether Palin’s Running—’She Is’
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 07/12/2010 4:43:10 AM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

Mika Brzezinski wants to "cut the crap" when it comes to building speculation as to whether Sarah Palin will run for president in 2012. According to Mika, Palin's candidacy is a done deal, and the press is letting itself be sucked into a phony build-up.

Mika is so sure that Sarah is running that on today's Morning Joe she was willing to wager a dubious Jonathan Capehart $1,000. Brzezinski's comments came in response to Politico's report, highlighted by Mike Allen, that Palin has raised significant money and built a nascent campaign staff.

its not going to get any easier as POTUS

Yes, because she will have the resouces to fight back. The state of Alaska/Sarah didn't.

Name one person who has been treated the way Sarah has been treated, just one.

The National Democratic Committee used its Alaska chapter, the Alaska Democratic Party (ADP), to create a website with one stated goal: "Keep Sarah Palin Out of Public Office." To this day, the Democrats use this website to publicly seek donations for funding bogus "legal challenges involving issues related to Sarah Palin."

"To the extent several websites, most notably liberal Alaska blogger Shannyn Moore, are now claiming as 'fact' that Governor Palin resigned because she is 'under federal investigation' for embezzlement or other criminal wrongdoing, we will be exploring legal options this week to address such defamation," Van Flein said in a statement. "This is to provide notice to Ms. Moore, and those who re-publish the defamation, such as Huffington Post, MSNBC, the New York Times and The Washington Post, that the Palins will not allow them to propagate defamatory material without answering to this in a court of law."

And we don’t have any other candidates that have proven nearly her resilience. She and her family will be ready.

Will they? Palin hasn't begun to be questioned about quitting as governor. Todd will be fair game because of all those emails which seem to indicate he had a greater voice in Alaska's governing than most spouses. Bristol is a public figure now, and will be a target. Levi Johnson will be booked on shows from day of announcement until the election day. About the only one who won't be in the crosshairs is Trig, and I won't swear to even that lasting all that long.

I will say it again; Palin has no idea as to the lengths her opponents will go to in order to keep her from the nomination and the election.

Do you think she’s stupid? Of course she knows how far they’ll go—she’s already experienced more of their shenanigans than probably anyone else in the country.

Bristol’s got Levi reeled back in and Todd’s emails have already been thoroughly examined and aired. It’s part of her identity and appeal by now not to have the button-down staidness of the upper-middle-class. She’s not running from her working-class roots and that’ll help her win votes.

Agreed. Hence my initial post!

Yep, we're on the same page.
I was attempting to express agreement and bolster your position.

I think you’re wrong, but nothing I can say will ever change your mind. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens.

This meme you repeat is unbelievable.

You're pulling your comment out of thin air. Who are you to lecture SP on what it's like to be target number one?

You have no idea that Palin has no idea as to the lengths her opponents will go, and I bet she is more keenly aware than you will ever be.

In that case we'll just have to agree to agree. =D

Well, Bill Clinton left office with millions in legal bills. Of course, that was his own making but.....the Dems all feel he was harrassed.

Comparing Bill Clintons intern problem with what kooks did to Sarah is ridiculous. All Clinton had to do was stop diddling with the interns. Palin was only trying to do her JOB.

Besides, Palin won every one of those 'ethical' lawsuits the kooks filed. Bill Clinton lost (by lying under oath), was disbarred (by a Democrat judge in Ark) and was impeached. BIG DIFFERENCE!

While she and Obama are from opposite sides of the political spectrum, they are both “rock stars”. That is my main objection to her.

Well Obama was a rock star with no substance...a puppet with every leftist cause pulling his strings. I don't think Palin is or will be anyone's puppet.

She's gaining support by endorsing and helping others of like mind to get elected. Considering those she's endorsing - McCain, Fiornia, etc. - that's a bit worrisome.

Can you seriously imagine the fallout if she didn't endorse McCain? You don't even have to spin that as disloyal with the public. It's the smart move politically. McCain is way too old and his tactics are way too known. He's not going to have any influence in a (hopefully) conservative dominated legislature.

Sometimes even Patton and MacArthur had to retreat, temporarily. Isn't it smarter to survive and fight than submit and die?

That's right. Strategic retreats or fall backs can win battles or wars.

Let the enemy come screaming at you....and then fall back to your fortified position. That's what Palin did. The enemies came screaming at her so she retreated to a fortified position and is fighting the battle in a better position.

There's no use talking to the Palin haters, you know.

They have decided the best possible use for their heads is as suppositories.
