LAS VEGAS -- Las Vegas Metro police on Monday identified the three officers who shot and killed an armed man outside a Costco store in Summerlin.
They are Officer William Mosher, 38, a five-year veteran of the department, Officer Joshua Stark, 28, who has been with the department since September 2008, and Officer Thomas Mendiola, 23, who joined the department in March 2009.

The stop was made at night in a dimly lit rural area. The vehicle came back registered to a man wanted for questioning in the murder of a local hunter. I never said he was armed. You should go back and read my initial post.

My take is she conveyed this to 911 over the phone in order to get the police there fast. Like a woman falsely accusing a man of rape.
What she did in the store was more subdued going by the comment section I linked to. Probably she told people to evacuate...so did other Costco employees

They seemed to be happy couple who where purchasing some really healthy food. I only remember this because the couple where pretty attractive and my girl made the comment to me. It is the same where I live. Cops everywhere. I can’t go to and from the office, about 20 mins from my home, without seeing minimum 4 or more cruisers. More often than not, they have someone pulled over. They circle like sharks and swarm like bees at the hint of an infraction.
If I lived in an inner city ghetto, I would likely be grateful, but they won’t go there. It’s too risky for them. Where I live, about the worst annual offense is shoplifting at Walmart. Then there is speeding and tag lights out. Of course, there is the occasional illegal drug bust. But, 99% of LE in my community is focussed on traffic violations. I don’t know how they afford so many cruisers and patrol officers, much less justify it.
Your own account shows that Costco simply reported a man destroying merchandise, which he seems to have been doing, and that he was armed.
I doubt this solid citizen was destroying merchandise. That is as likely as you or me doing it. One comment said he was opening up a box to check out its contents.
There is not one thing wrong with what I posted, I stand by it.
I have a paralysis of my left arm. I can move it some, but can't lift it above chest height or hold my hand out flat or open to show there's nothing in it. Would you have killed me?

You words...he didn't have to be armed to be killed. You just needed to believe that he had "anything in his hands."

Why? You do realize that from time to time people calling 911 actually describe a suspect, do you not?
I dunno, and am inclined to say "destroying merchandise" is a fabrication. Maybe he was planning on buying both the backpack and the drinks, and was just rearranging his purchase before going through the checkout.
Are grocery store customers who open drinks or snacks "destroying property?" Obviously, some of them are shoplifting, but many (probably most) pay for the open item at checkout.

...which is different from defending it.
I just had to have reasonable suspicion that he was coming out of that vehicle with anything in his hands that could cause me harm.
What part of “EMPTY HANDS” is the most difficult for you to understand? If an officer pulled me over and ordered me out of my vehicle with my hands visible and empty, why on earth would I do anything else?

Not if you explained that to me immediately. I would have still taken you into custody and done so in a way that kept us both safe.
I've seen many "cop conventions" where I live. They always leave cruisers blocking a lane or two so that the taxpayers know they are on the job and working hard. It's where they catch up with their friends. "Hey Joe I'll bring the franks for your BBQ next Sunday". The record was 12 cruisers w nothing much to do.
Most fire departments can be cut way back. There are much fewer urban/suburban house fires than years ago due to smoke detectors and other preventative measures. Most fire departments are wrapped into EMTs these days so they can look busier and like they are worth the money being paid. When I was young you had real fire departments and EMT/ambulance was totally separate agency and/or private business. I once saw five ambulances respond to a homeless dude who stumbled and got himself all bloody.
