LAS VEGAS -- Las Vegas Metro police on Monday identified the three officers who shot and killed an armed man outside a Costco store in Summerlin.

They are Officer William Mosher, 38, a five-year veteran of the department, Officer Joshua Stark, 28, who has been with the department since September 2008, and Officer Thomas Mendiola, 23, who joined the department in March 2009.

NO. As one who wants to dispute the validity of the Tueller drill, you have a responsibility

BS. You haven't even established the validity of the Tueller drill to begin with. Keep in mind:

- YOU brought up the Tueller drill as part of your argument
- YOU claimed the Tueller drill was scientifically grounded
- YOU continue to maintain that the Tueller drill is a valid demonstration of your point.

That means it is also incumbent upon YOU to establish the scientific validity of the claims you are making. So far you haven't. And when pressed on it all you seem capable of producing is (1) the original Tueller article, which does not present itself as scientific, and (2) a junk science non peer reviewed "study" by some uncredentialed hack who bought himself a degree off the internet.

“Again - I know cops who refer to us as ‘civilians’.”

.
“What else would they refer to you as?”

.
Citizen? A police officer is a civilian! Anyone not in active armed forces is a civilian, and a cop is an employee of civil government, thus has to be a civilian to hold the job.

Our police are being twisted into something that they are not supposed to be.

“Citizen?”

Sure because as we all know from the illegal alien threads, EVERYONE the cops contact is a citizen right?

“Really? Site five specific examples.”

Five? Why not 10?

Why not just change a few words around?

"Yeah. And police academies basic training these days are is little more than a training seminar on how to play the court system in a way that racks up arrests and tickets. torture civilians and violate the Geneva convention. It's not exactly intellectually demanding or confidence inspiring work, as is also evidenced by the proliferation of burger flipper types on patrol in the military who have obviously passed through a police academy basic training somewhere."

See, it sounds just as stupid. That must mean your premise is flawed.

You haven't established that it is invalid.

Since I'm not relying on the Tueller Drill to make my point, that's not my obligation. You on the other hand have asserted that it is scientifically grounded, although the best you can do to back that assertion is a non peer reviewed study from a hack on the police payroll who bought himself a Ph.D. on the itnernet. That makes your argument thoroughly unsubstantiated.

How about my neighbor who is a cop, who speeds past me all the time. On his way home.

Perhaps he’s going to an urgent donut emergency at his house?

Citizen does make more sense than civilian, since all but the active military are by definition civilians.

In 2009, 48 cops were killed in the line of duty. There were roughly 750,000 cops employed - the estimates vary. Stopping a guy coming out of Costco isn’t exactly a high-risk proposition...it isn’t a drug bust, or home entry, or dealing with a bunch of drunks at a bar at 1:30 AM.

They had the option of doing it in a less crowded area, and didn’t need to be all prepped to shoot. They might even have started by asking a question - what a concept!

“Really. You have attended HOW many police academies?”

Just HOW much training can a person get in 12-14 weeks? If they are SOOOO highly trained then why is the pay so crappy?

Really. You have attended HOW many police academies?

...which is the logical equivalent of saying that only black people are allowed to criticize Obama because only they "know" what it's like to be a black person in America.

Of course doesn't need to attend every police academy to know that their standards are fallen any more than he needs to attend crappy inner city high school X. All you gotta do to know that is look at the product they both put out on the street!

Getting into a shoot out in the middle of a crowd shows extremely poor judgment. Especially since the guy didn’t have the gun in his hand.

Relative to their qualifications the pay isn't crappy at all. A typical career cop salary is in the $40-80K range with a bloated lifetime government pension package and retirement at 50.

There isn't another job in existence that pays that kind of money to someone whose only qualifications are a GED and whose only training is a couple months at an academy.

Speaking of ad hominems, fallacy boy, you're just full of them today!

At least when I say Lewinski's an uncredentialed hack with an internet degree I can back that up with fact. Face it. You're just pissed that I exposed your "expert" as a fraud.
