Officers In Costco Shooting Identified (NV)

LAS VEGAS -- Las Vegas Metro police on Monday identified the three officers who shot and killed an armed man outside a Costco store in Summerlin.

They are Officer William Mosher, 38, a five-year veteran of the department, Officer Joshua Stark, 28, who has been with the department since September 2008, and Officer Thomas Mendiola, 23, who joined the department in March 2009.

I don’t know. I don’t think footage gets released unless someone leaks it, at least not at first. Costco better NOT be covering this up. They are likely going to have to pay big time anyway, and if they are exposed in a cover-up, it could be billions with a B in wrongful death penalties and lost business.

I LIKE Costco, but I would strongly consider cutting up my card if they try to sweep this under the rug.

They said that he was destroying merchandise and was carrying a gun. What part was fictionalized? Clearly the police overreacted here and ought to be charged, but I didn’t read where someone lied to the police about the victim.

Eric Scott got conflicting commands from these police officers. Two were rookies, only one veteran. The rookies blew it here. One command was to “take out your weapon and drop it”. Another command was to freeze. When Eric removed his weapon to surrender it he was shot by the idiots who told him to freeze. The Three Stooges were geniuses compared to these three officers

Also blame the Costco worker (manager prolly) who phoned 911 about the man in her store with a gun and lied about this man (Scott) creating a disturbance. Who was too dumb to know that conceal carry is legal in her Costco store. I hope her name comes out and she should be charged with accessory to murder. Of course this won’t happen

The term originally used to describe him was “going berserk.” Based on witness accounts it now appears that “going berserk” really = a liberal employee confronting him about his gun and getting into an argument over it.

It's a mixed bag. I've known many cops over the course of my life, both as a "suspect" and as friends. I can't recall one unfair interaction in my personal life.

I also observe that "Cop Mentality" is not fiction, and your take is right on the money. The more power and control you offer or give to a cop, the more his pupils dilate.

But Costco also has part of the blame for inciting the situation. Witness reports are starting to come forward that confirm what we all suspected. Some liberal twit Costco employee saw his concealed handgun, got into an argument with him about it, and called the cops to report a crazed gunman in the store.

If every person or business who calls the police is later responsible for the police officer's actions, then from a liability standpoint it makes little sense for them ever to call the cops at all.

They ALL do. It's part of the normal jargon. I agree there is an attitude problem, and I see serious trouble when the public wakes up to the fact that they are being corralled and manipulated like cattle.

It does sound like they yelled "FIRE!!!" in a crowded theater.

On the other hand...there's been a brewhaha(haha!) about open carry in Starbucks. You'd think some soccer moms would wet their pants in fright.

It would be hard to prove,
but anyone who INTENTIONALLY misrepresented a situation while contacting the authorities should be liable for the consequences.
