BELFAST, Northern Ireland (AP) — Northern Ireland leaders condemned Irish nationalist rioters Tuesday who wounded 82 police officers during two nights of street clashes sparked by the province's annual parades by the British Protestant majority.

No, I am absolutely correct. Your post made no mention of ALL OF THE Scots BEING CATHOLIC - because they were not. A few being Catholic is irrelevant. And how many of the Scots learned Irish? Very few since the language was made illegal. The Normans were 100% Catholic and many made an effort to learn the language and all eventually intermarried with locals. That cannot be said about the Scots except for a tiny, tiny minority at best.

My points still stand.

‘How exactly is that the same things as deliberately targeting women and children? IRA bombings killed civilians. There’s no doubt about it. But Osama bin Laden specifically said women and children were fair game. That isn’t what the IRA ever said as far as I know.’

Astonishing. Quite astonishing. And to someone who has grown up with IRA violence, utterly offensive in its blinding ignorance.

The IRA never publicly targeted women and children. But nor did they publicly target civilian men either. The IRA simply murdered whomsoever was in the vicinity of their bombs.

Oh yes, the IRA murdered and maimed MANY women and children. The youngest victim of the Irish troubles was just SIX MONTHS OLD. And plenty of small children and teenagers were killed, blown to bits by the IRA, just like many women.

Didnt deliberately target women?. And what about the women who were abducted and murdered in NI by the IRA and whose bodies have still never been found, for the ‘crime’ of being polite to British soldiers?. The most public case being that of Lorraine McConville, who has never been found. Her crime?. To try and help a British soldier dying from an IRA bullet. For that she was abducted, tortured and murdered. A Catholic Irish mother and wife.

‘The IRA bombers were doubtless thugs, but they were boy scouts compared to any Islamist terrorist group.’

To try and lessen what they did is quite frankly sickening.

I will put it down to the ignorance of never having seen what these people did.

I find the fact that you openly supported terrorists who murdered and maimed innocent men, women and children of both Catholic and Protestant persuasion in NI, not to mention their innocent victims in Britain, absolutely sickening.

Wanting a different Ireland is fine.

Murdering, bombing and maiming to do so is not.

But it was okay to use those things to keep Ireland within the British Empire? Ever hear of the Black and Tans? How do you think they got that reputation of theirs?

‘Can you think of an IRA bombing that had many women and children victims? There might be one, but I can’t think of any off the top of my head.’

‘And how often did that ever happen? Then compare that number to what Islamists have done. The IRA come off looking like boy scouts as I said.’

Jesus. Are you THAT clueless about the Troubles in NI?.

England was Catholic until Henry VIII decided he wanted to get divorced and remarried.

‘Where are the British marches in Scotland? Wales? There are none. Why not? Because, even though they are different peoples, they share the same faith and ultimately bent their knees to the same Protestant crown, Protestant law and Protestant army.’

Apologies if I misread but I read this passage as inaccurate. And replied accordingly.

My questions still stand unanswered by you:

1) “Can you think of an IRA bombing that had many women and children victims? There might be one, but I can’t think of any off the top of my head.”

Please name that bombing and please show me that victimizing women and children was actually the IRA’s intent. Can you do that or not?

2) “And how often did that ever happen? Then compare that number to what Islamists have done. The IRA come off looking like boy scouts as I said.”

Please answer the questions.

Can you?

Telling me I don’t know anything isn’t the same as answering my questions.

Also, are you posting elsewhere as ayrshireman or are you appropriating someone else’s list as your own?

“Ulster has always been set apart from the south.’

Not so.

Most of the land of Ulster has no desire to remain with the UK. It’s only the far eastern portion, close to the UK that wishes to stay.

In fact, I think there are more Catholics in Ulster these days. It doesn’t make any sense to keep them apart from Ireland.

There are worse things than terrorists killing civilians though that is unforgiveable. One of those would be state sponsored terrorists killing civilians as in Bloody Sunday, no?

Of course being British, I am aware of the black and tans. As a history graduate, even more so, as I have studied Irish history.

Where have I defended the B&T’s. Where has any British Freeper?. In fact bar a few NI Protestant numbskulls, youll find no one this side of the Atlantic who will. The Tans are a national shame.

Please do not try to justify the IRA by using the Black and Tans. You do not justify an evil by quoting another.

But my references do at least show that the 17thC Irish native-Scottish Prot. relationship is far more complex than the myth states.

The Paras in 1972 overreacted to a situation in which they were shot at.

I will not defend their decisions that day, however they did NOT go onto the Bogside in Derry that day with the intent to kill civilians.

THATS the difference between a soldier and a terrorist.

You don't know that nor do I. But I'd be happy to read the Para's ROE for that day.

Were the Chineses soldiers terrorizing civilians at Tiananmen?
