White House Unveils Free Preventative Services
BY JANET ADAMY
JULY 15, 2010
WASHINGTONTreatments for the prevention of alcohol abuse, depression and obesity are among the services that will be free to consumers with new insurance plans starting in September.
As part of the new health law, the Obama administration on Wednesday released rules specifying which preventive health services insurers must provide to consumers at no additional cost. Democrats hope the change will be one of the most popular early pieces of the sweeping legislation.
"Services like these will go a long way in preventing chronic illness," First Lady Michelle Obama said Wednesday.
Under the provision, health plans initiated after Sept. 23 must cover preventive health services at no additional cost to the consumer. People who stay on their existing health plans won't benefit from the change.

But does my Free 0bamaCare come with a Free Lunch?
I was told there would be a Free Lunch.
Not in any position of power.
I'm sure the wait staff, janitorial crew, gardeners, secret service detail, and the ranks of the Marine guards are full of adults.
Darn you!
And you!
You too!
TANSTAAFL! (And I am a conservative, not a libertarian).
Old age will do that to you ;-)
It’s like duh...If you’re paying for insurance....IT’S NOT FREE!!!!
Just what I'd expect them to think and say, and just what I'd expect from someone who has no real understanding about health care. People in the US are not obese because they don't get free counseling. They don't continue to smoke because it's too expensive to talk to someone about it. Vaccines are already fairly easy to get for free if you can't afford them. Mammograms etc. are great, but have nothing to do with preventing ‘chronic disease’.
You sick people, just go f*cking die.
A “free” colonoscopy? It takes two nurses, an anesthesiologist and licensed MD. The malpractice insurance alone is in the 10’s of thousands! Who pays for the machine. Isn't there a new tax on those medical devices as well? Spell check isn't working for me so pardon the spelling.
"I'm from the government and I'm here to help you."
Any federal version of health care is unconstitutional since Article 1 Section 8 of the Constitution does not specifically list regulating health care as an enumerated power! The people are not bound to comply with an unconstitutional act and as Americans are duty bound to uphold and defend the Constitution by openly defying these wholly unconstitutional acts!
“Yeah, my son is coughing all the time and I need to prevent that. It’s free, right?”
What they mean by free is that the insurance premiums will rise for everyone to pay for them.
” “I’m from the government and I’m here to help you.”
Lemme see your tax returns
Lemme see your IRA
Lemme see your bank statements.
Hmmmm 400,000........you can keep 25 of it.
If we are putting in request I want a TOP OF THE LINE LONG ARM QUILTING machine. That way I can produce more Valor (for our wounded) and charity (children’s hospital) quilts, along with quilts for my kids and grand kids.
One question—who’s going to be providing all of these “free” services to the additional millions who will be demanding them? Doctor’s offices will be stacked with people out the doors (think of your local post office at rush hour); hospital waiting rooms will be standing room only; ditto MRI centers, mammogram screening centers, etc. These “free” services will be useless because people will have to wait months and months and months to get them. In the meantime, really sick people (mostly elderly) already diagnosed with diseases that require x-rays and other diagnostic and treatment procedures will be unable to get them because the supply of doctors and service centers won’t be able to keep up with the demand from everybody else who, regardless of their health, will be demanding their government-provided freebies.
This is such insane poppycock it would be laughable if it weren’t pathetic. Watch the best healthcare system in the world go down the drain.
