It was inauguration day for the nations most modern facility for the treatment of active-duty soldiers and veterans suffering from brain injuries and psychological disorders5,000 of them with families on hand. At the podium in Bethesda, Maryland, stood Arnold Fisher, the chief fundraiser for this precious center that may need to care for hundreds of thousands of victims, searching in vain for one White House official, one Cabinet officer, one member of the Joint Chiefs, one senator. He found none. And he asked again and again, Where are they?
You are injured, Fisher said. We are all here. Where are they?
Where were they? President Obama was in meetings and having a hamburger lunch with Russian President Medvedev. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was also at these meetings, though not at the hamburger shop in Virginia. Michelle Obama, who has made caring for military families one of her top priorities, couldnt make it; she was said to have given her final "no" at the last minute. She was accompanying Mrs. Medvedev on a visit to the Duke Ellington School for the Arts in D.C., where they watched a dance performance. Vice President Joe Biden also met with Russians and with Israelis. Defense Secretary Robert Gates sent his deputy William Lynn III. All four Joint Chiefs sent their deputies. General Eric Shinseki, secretary of Veterans Affairs, couldnt make it. Not one among the legions of pro- and antiwar hooting senators could find the time. Only two members of the House of Representatives found their way to the ceremony.

You do not know a thing about protocol. You call me a DIMWIT when you are a newbie...get the heck out of here and if you don’t like my posts than don’t reply. You never provide anything to the topic anyway. You spout off your mouth like a child.
“You call me a DIMWIT”
Sorry...I meant AHOLE.
You can’t even spell correctly....go back to school. Clearly you need an education.
Well, this administration is succeeding to piss off the military. That is the good aspect (imo)
If I didn't think that the new facility in Bethesda was better off without the dark comedy team (and by dark comedy, I'm not referring to any one’s skin color) of Joe and O, I would really be furious.
“You cant even spell correctly....go back to school.”
Correctly. Ahole.
I am a Nam guy I have the same doubts that you do about my era.
>Where are the success stories re Iraq?<
Sorry but success at war is not one of Zero’s goals. The media is forbidden to discuss the subject.
What are you trying to say? Just don’t know is perfect for your name.
Serving in Nam isn’t something I am proud of nor ashamed of. I consider it to be a brain expanding experience. Saw and did a lot that I’d rather have not but at the same time I’m glad that I did. If that makes any sense at all.
I think it helped prepare me for the possible collapse of America, the Free. Boosted my self reliance and ability to look inward to myself for the help I’ve needed.
Oh, please. That is really lame for some newbie with a 2005 sign-up date to call someone with a 2006 sign-up date a newbie.
BTW, nice job trying to defend the indefensible. I ain't buying it. There's no excuse for top level administration and military representatives not being there.
“Just dont know is perfect for your name.”
Hahahaha...and you think I can’t spell...what a dope.
“There’s no excuse for top level administration and military representatives not being there.”
This lamebrain is here constantly with a defense for the Won. I think he’s a little left in the loafers.
But, I have to admit, he does bring out the worst in me. I should probably ignore it, as I did for a while, but it doesn’t stop...I think that it’s the obviousness of his posts that tick me off...they are always the same, blah blah blah “oh, what else could they do” faux resonable defense of the POtuS. I should let it go, but somehow it just ticks me off every time.
Bob,
I am a realist. jessduntno was in the military in World War II when the President can take five minutes to get to a function. Now it takes hours of waiting for the President to arrive. I am in the military and trust me if the President decides not to come to an event, EVERYONE is fine with it because it make the ceremony much more palpable. The other thing I bashed was the fact that this “guy” makes fun of Obama eating an ice cream cone as if that is a tragedy so if that makes me a lefty than I guess that is ridiculous. I am a realist. A President is going to have an ice cream from time to time is that really a reason for ridicule. I think it is childish quite frankly. I understand that being in your eighties makes you think of things differently but this guy is way out in left field. jessduntno has searched me so he can ping me every single day. It is ridiculous but I figure that he has nothing else going on in his life so I put up with it. I feel sorry for him. When you don’t have a family or a job this is his entertainment. I have a job and a wife and four children so I am constantly busy and don’t have time for this old dude but pity him.
Stick it you moron. The thread was about top officials, not the President. And if it WERE about that POtuS, he was OK with leaving Bibi sitting in a room while he trotted off to have lunch with his .. er ... wife .. so don’t tell me he has to observe protocol. He just doesn’t give a shit.
And you are a leftist apologist and have been one for years.
Well I am glad that you got that out of your system. Feel better baby. For someone in your 80’s you are pretty immature. Grow up before it is too late...you getting close.

Hint......perhaps you should do something productive.
Realist or not, you're acting more like an apologist than anything else.
jessduntno was in the military in World War II when the President can take five minutes to get to a function. Now it takes hours of waiting for the President to arrive.
Horse manure. The logistics of getting the president to a function has not changed that much, even since WWII. If anything, the availability of Marine 1 would make it even easier for him to attend a local function than it would have been during WWII.
I am in the military and trust me if the President decides not to come to an event, EVERYONE is fine with it because it make the ceremony much more palpable.
Thank you for your service but I think you're being just a tad presumptuous to claim that your service gives you the right to speak for EVERYONE in the service.
Besides, my point was not that the president himself snubbed this event, it was more to the point that no senior level military or civilian administration official chose to attend it. That is indefensible despite your best efforts to defend it.
