News Media Blackout of Firing of Racist Obama Agriculture Appointee
Monday, July 19, 2010 | Kristinn

As of 10:00 p.m. EDT, hours after Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack fired Shirley Sherrod for racism in her official duties after being exposed by BigGovernment.com there is a near total blackout by the mainstream news media on the scandal.

Sherrod was appointed a year ago by Vilsack to be the Georgia director of Rural Development where she doled out millions of dollars in federal funds.

Just days before her appointment, the Obama Justice Department settled a lawsuit by Sherrod and her husband claiming discrimination against their farm cooperative for a reported $13 million.

A search of Google News and Google Blogs shows nothing form the Associated Press or Reuters. Nothing from Politico or The Hill. Nothing from The New York Times, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times. Nothing from MSNBC or CNN. Nothing from ABC or NBC. CBS gets partial credit for running a story earlier about Sherrod's racist remarks but has failed to follow up with the story of her firing.

Credit goes to Fox News for reporting the story and updating it with news of Sherrod's termination:

The Agriculture Department announced Monday, shortly after FoxNews.com published its initial report on the video, that Sherrod had resigned.

"There is zero tolerance for discrimination at USDA, and I strongly condemn any act of discrimination against any person," Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack said in a written statement. "We have been working hard through the past 18 months to reverse the checkered civil rights history at the department and take the issue of fairness and equality very seriously."

Sherrod was videotaped at an NAACP dinner in March of this year speaking about an incident where she discriminated against a white farmer while acting in her offical capacity because she is black and is prejudiced against white farmers.

Big Government broke the story with video to back it up around mid-day. The failure of the mainstream media to touch this story even after Sherrod was forced to resign and was publicly rebuked by an Obama cabinet secretary is a shameful example of the censorious nature of the liberal mainstream media.

The zero administration is learning to dump these people fast. Think back to how slow on the draw they were over Van Jones - weeks, if not months. This commie racist sow was gone in hours.

No, kristinn, no time to report on true racism by the Hussein administration . The media is too busy reporting about the Tea Party “Federation” getting their panties in a bunch about some guy named Mike Williams.

Isn’t it interesting how that story just appeared out of nowhere, JUST A COUPLE OF DAYS after the NAA(L)CP had a resolution condemning the Tea Party? Hmmm?

The AJC has had some surprising reports lately. They might even be discovering the glimmerings of a Clue.

>>A few minutes ago I did a Bing search and it returned many articles.. all of which were read able (meaning linked) for now.

kristinn’s point is that the major news organizations by and large haven’t picked this up.

I did the same Bing search. CNN has picked this up. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution has picked this up. Fox and the NY Post have picked this up. After that, you’re into the Charleston Daily Mail and similar, and of course the blogs and other Internet sources. Heck, the Ethiopian Review is on p2 of the Bing results, to give you an idea of the lack of major media coverage of this.

Major dailies like the Washington Post, the NY Times, the Chicago Tribune, etc., should have picked up this story. By and large, they haven’t, and won’t until shamed into it. And that is the point.

They’re probably waiting to all get on-message about how this was the fault of racist Tea Party folks.

That is why you have talkradio, FoxNews, and conservative websites. They are doing the job the old MSM does not want to do.

There are only a handful of stories and did you look at the sources? Small sites like "Access North Georgia," "Dakota Voice."

This story has been buried!

I thought I could not get any angrier. I was wrong.

WTF is wrong with this once great nation?

RDLN Graduate and Board Vice Chair Shirley Sherrod was appointed Georgia Director for Rural Development by Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack on July 25. Only days earlier, she learned that New Communities, a group she founded with her husband and other families (see below) has won a thirteen million dollar settlement in the minority farmers law suit Pigford vs Vilsack."

Let me see if I have this right. She and her group sued the government, they settle for 13 mil. and Vilsack hires her after the settlement?

*shaking head in disgust*

I’m hoping she gives back the money she got for “racial discrimination” against her.
