News Media Blackout of Firing of Racist Obama Agriculture Appointee

As of 10:00 p.m. EDT, hours after Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack fired Shirley Sherrod for racism in her official duties after being exposed by BigGovernment.com there is a near total blackout by the mainstream news media on the scandal.

Sherrod was appointed a year ago by Vilsack to be the Georgia director of Rural Development where she doled out millions of dollars in federal funds.

Just days before her appointment, the Obama Justice Department settled a lawsuit by Sherrod and her husband claiming discrimination against their farm cooperative for a reported $13 million.

A search of Google News and Google Blogs shows nothing form the Associated Press or Reuters. Nothing from Politico or The Hill. Nothing from The New York Times, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times. Nothing from MSNBC or CNN. Nothing from ABC or NBC. CBS gets partial credit for running a story earlier about Sherrod's racist remarks but has failed to follow up with the story of her firing.

Credit goes to Fox News for reporting the story and updating it with news of Sherrod's termination:

The Agriculture Department announced Monday, shortly after FoxNews.com published its initial report on the video, that Sherrod had resigned.

"There is zero tolerance for discrimination at USDA, and I strongly condemn any act of discrimination against any person," Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack said in a written statement. "We have been working hard through the past 18 months to reverse the checkered civil rights history at the department and take the issue of fairness and equality very seriously."

Sherrod was videotaped at an NAACP dinner in March of this year speaking about an incident where she discriminated against a white farmer while acting in her offical capacity because she is black and is prejudiced against white farmers.

Big Government broke the story with video to back it up around mid-day. The failure of the mainstream media to touch this story even after Sherrod was forced to resign and was publicly rebuked by an Obama cabinet secretary is a shameful example of the censorious nature of the liberal mainstream media.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution posted a report a few minutes ago. They got a local NAACP official on the record condemning Sherrod's statements:

Reached by phone Monday night, NAACP Atlanta chapter president R.L. White told the AJC he "detests what she said."

"It does suggest unfair treatment," White said. "Regardless of her color … if it’s unfair, it’s unfair."

While he recalled many years of unfair treatment against minority farmers, White said that didn't make Sherrod's actions right.

"The playing table should be leveled," he said. "Everyone, regardless of race, creed or color should be treated same way, regardless of the race of the administrator."

A fine sentiment. I wonder if it holds at the national level NAACP?

Anyone think the (ex)MSM will try to get away with a media black out, when he throws his flunky racist Attorney General under the bus?

Meanwhile, farmers across the nation will continue to vote rat as a bloc as they don’t wan’t to be ‘that guy that got singled out and made an example of’.

Don’t fool yourself. There is no punishment for the ruling class. She will be quietly given a high paying, low responsibility job at some liberal university or some liberal organization.

I noticed there was no comment from him about the NAACP tolerating her blatant racism at the dinner.

BTW MyFoxAtlanta just picked up the stroy from Fox News.

But Vilsack still found a way to blame it on Bush:

Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack said in a written statement after firing Sherrod: “We have been working hard through the past 18 months to reverse the checkered civil rights history at the department and take the issue of fairness...blah blah blah...

“The video claims Sherrod’s remarks were delivered March 27 to an NAACP Freedom Fund banquet, but it is not clear that is the case, nor is it clear where the event was held or how many people were in attendance.”

I love the healthy skepticism that CNN exhibits. /s

This is what I have to say to Mr. White.

My kids, my parents, my grandparents.... had NOTHING to do with the inequalities and suffering of Blacks under Democratic rule.

It’s character, not skin color.

Hope Holder investigates.

Holder is involved in EVERY legal decision. We are now dealing with a very corrupt group.
