WASHINGTON – An embarrassed White House apologized on Wednesday to a black Agriculture Department employee who was ousted for her remarks about race, acknowledging that officials did not know all the facts when she was fired.

White House spokesman Robert Gibbs called the dismissal of Shirley Sherrod an injustice and a mistake. He said Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack was trying to reach her to extend the administration's apology.

>> Big blocks of black voters were threatening to desert.

They wouldn’t, but that’s what this reversal is about.

I’d like someone to explain how racism was not a factor in the full video? BTW, Sherrod has a compelling story and I understand the “context”. Nonetheless, the racism depicted in the edited version exists in the full version.

White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said Wednesday that Vilsack had been unable to reach Shirley Sherrod so far.

Kind of hard to catch someone between appearances on the morning news shows. At some point, before she goes on Mathews, they'll find her.

Sherrod was asked by department officials to resign on Monday after conservative bloggers posted an edited video of her saying she didn’t initially give a white farmer as much help as she could have 24 years

______________________________________________

That’s not true, but even if it was.... I’d be OK with that.

The truth is Sherrod was asked by department officials to resign on Monday after THE NAACP GOT THEIR RACIST ASSES HANDED TO ‘EM AND THE NAACP AND THE WHITE HOUSE DID A KNEE JERK REACTION.

In other words.. They got Alinsky’d.

What OBAMA should do is DISBAND THE NAACP, not fire SHERROD (at least based on her speech).

Why would we even need an naacp if we're so 'post racial'? (just rhetorical, folks)

What we need are some brave black conservative Americans to infiltrate the naacp and expose it for the racist organization it is.

That's what libs do - it's time to return some favors.

It’s not blacks who are furious with the ineptness of the Administration, it’s white liberals.

I would imagine that Arriana Huffington is livid that the White House got snookered by Breitbart.

The great thing about this incident is that the Administration has managed to infuriate all sides.

We now realize that the recounting of blatantly racist actions were part of a larger narrative about the need to refocus one’s racial grievances into a more acceptable class warfare framework.

If she were white, there would be absolutely no back-tracking.

Like J. Christian Adams who resigned from the Justice Department over the BLACK PANTHER DISMISSAL?

Or this guy:

Barack Obama apparently gave Congress notice that he is in the process of firing the inspector general who investigates AmeriCorps and other national service programs and has told Congress he is removing him from the position.

Obama’s move follows an investigation by IG Gerald Walpin of Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson, who is an Obama supporter and former NBA basketball star, into the misuse of federal grants by a nonprofit education group that Johnson headed.

Now, in his statement to Congress, Obama failed to mention why he was firing Mr. Walpin, other than stating he has ‘lost faith’ in the IG. Initially, the White House had threated Walpin to resign or be fired…Walpin refused.

Obama acted stupidly.

This is such BS. She is racist who hates “whitey” and now they will make her into a martyr. I bet she gets millions too.

Stupid whites who voted for this.

White House spokesman Robert Gibbs called the dismissal of Shirley Sherrod an injustice and a mistake.

NO, it was just done for the wrong reason. And it would have been better if Obama had disbanded the NAACP. That would have made more sense.

Watch the entire tape and you'll find that she is a racist suffering from what I term "minority psychosis". It's rich Whitey keeping blacks and poor whites down. Why Whitey wants to do this is never explained in this worldview.

This woman and her husband won hundreds of thousands of dollars in taxpayer money and part of a $13 million settlement in the Pigford vs Glickman/Vilsack lawsuit. I don't know the facts of her claim but many of the claims are based on outright fraud paid for by the taxpayer in one of the largest frauds perpetrated against the taxpayer.

Watch and see, Vilsack is about to be thrown under the bus. Breitbart aired this video to show the hypocrisy of the naacp, laughing and applauding as sherrod describes showing Whitey who's in charge and abusing her power at his expense.

Her remarks about "his own kind" and "it is about black and white", her claims that Republicans and the Tea Party oppose health care and obama because of the color of his skin and they want to take us back to when the subservient black man wasn't allowed to look Whitey in the face are reprehensible and should guarantee that she never hold a federal job.

Shep referred to Breitbart’s Biggovernment.com as a “widely discredited website.”

Now he’s damning Glenn Beck with faint praise...

Oh boy. This little flap is turning into a big gaffe gift of the highest proportions.

First, let us establish that not one conservative or conservative org. called for the firing of Shirly Sherrod. Yesterday, Glenn Beck devoted his show to the matter and he quite openly took a stand that Sherrod’s comments were taken out of context and she should not be punished for them.

Now I think Breitbart has a point to make with this tape, specifically that the NAACP audience was nodding approval quite openly as Sherrod recounted how she stopped short of giving help to a white farmer with her all. IE...I don’t think Breitbart particularly was looking to have anyone fired, just to make a point about racisim and how it exists at...gasp...the NAACP.

But no, I didn’t hear Rush or Hannity or Fox jumping up and down that the woman should get fired even if, as one might argued, this was only because of the short amount of time passing with little time to digest it all. Whatever or why, conservatives, Fox, or Tea Party activists weren’t out and about demanding this woman’s head.

The WH, and the Dep of Ag however, for some reason, get all in an uproar like they never did over the Black Panther voting story, and immediately fire this woman.

Why?

Below a link to an American Thinker article that might reveal some intriguing info about Shirly Sherrod that would never have come to light were it not for the Breitbart tape.

http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2010/07/forty_acres_a_mule_sherrod_sty.html

It could be, as the above article suggests, that the Sherrods were part of a very questionable so-called Pigford settlement between the USDA and black farmers. Seems MR. Sherrod is old buddies with Obama from back in the 60’s where he was part of the Black Panther formation. Also seems Mr AND Mrs Sherrod got a great big settlement from this class action suit between black farmers and the USDA....they got waaaaay more money than anyone else, all for their “pain and suffering”.

In summary, Shirly Sherrod got her job at the USDA right after the settlement of her lawsuit with same. The question is...was her job part of the settlement? Why did the Sherrods get so much more money than anyone else? Could the Sherrods have been part of some scheme to get kickbacks from black landowners who joined the class action suit for some quick change?

Finally, why was the deadline for settlement on the Pigford claim extended?

I don’t think ole Shirly was fired for what she said at the NAACP. Put two and two together. Somebody wanted this woman taken OUT of the public spotlight.

Just so information about this yet another redistribution of wealth scheme wouldn’t get the light of day. Not that, heh, the Media does its job or anything.

The WH, and Obama don’t be fooled that he’s innocent, got so entangled in this imbriglio that now they’re laying splat on the ground looking really, really stupid.

To amuse us, they try to blame Fox news, which didn’t even report a thing about this until this morning, and, of course, the Tea Party activists.

And the NAACP members are all up in arms that this poor innocent woman got thrown over the bow so quickly when she was obviously innocent of any wrongdoing under the auspices of the USDA...which she was.

One more big screwup by the corrupt regime. It’s gotta be tough to keep all corruption straight.
