WASHINGTON – An embarrassed White House apologized on Wednesday to a black Agriculture Department employee who was ousted for her remarks about race, acknowledging that officials did not know all the facts when she was fired.
White House spokesman Robert Gibbs called the dismissal of Shirley Sherrod an injustice and a mistake. He said Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack was trying to reach her to extend the administration's apology.

What about the language she used, like “his own kind”? If a white official had said something like that, he or she would be drummed out of office by the Al Sharptons and Jesse Jacksons of this world.

I was told by another FReeper that to consider her words and deeds “racist”, when she only meant to explain the injustice of “racism”, makes me a “racist”. He said she only explained how God had opened her eyes to “racism”.
Not only that Sherrod herself was smiling as if this was funny what she was saying...along with "hallelujahs" from the audience...Michael Medved is going on right this minute on KFI radio about the "transcript"...and how she was misrepresented and taken out of context...Ms. Sherrod was no contrite angel in the video I saw...Medved sounds like he didn't see the video...there is much that does not show in the text transcript...delivery is everything.

It’s not appropriate to make her out to be a saint, either. She still goes on to say in the tape that “it’s still about white versus black, but it’s also about the poor versus those who have.”
She never abandoned the racism, she simply added marxist class warfare to her racist views.
And the audience would have booed her if she hadn’t said “it’s still about white vs. black.”
Exactly on the money. This sudden reverasl is the means to deflect from the purpose of Breitbart releasing the video in the first place. It is an effort to create a backlash against him and prevent him from releasing more videos in the future. This is a classic playbook move from the left.
I saw Breitbart on GMA defending this and thought he did well enough. Still, he simply needed to say that it did not matter whether she was telling a true story or not. It did not matter what was the truth behind the statement. All that mattered was that she MADE the statement and that it was racist and that the NAACP applauded it. PERIOD.
If had been on GMA I would have asked Georgie boy this: Imagine if a bank worker had gone to a Tea Party gathering and told a completely made up story wherein a black family is denied a loan just to get even with Obama for passing his healthcare bill. Later, that person is fired from his job at the bank because he said this at the gathering. George, would it have mattered to the MSM that the person made up the story? Would the MSM have run a story about how this guy represented the Tea Party?
"We need to stop looking just at race," Sherrod said on CNN. "Just at black vs white. We need to get beyond that. We can't forget that because that is definitely a part of us, but we need to move on."
Upon hearing the above quote, the NAACP released a statement saying "The opinion expressed by Sherrod does not reflect those of us with the NAACP. It is ALWAYS about race."
