Wait! There's even more dirt on Rangel
NY Post ^ | July 27, 2010 | GEOFF EARLE

WASHINGTON -- Harlem Rep. Charles Rangel said yesterday that investigators have unearthed new allegations of misconduct against him, while House Democratic leaders increased the pressure on him to reach a settlement before a congressional trial starts Thursday.

"We waited almost two years, and they finally investigated, and guess what -- they have some more alleged violations," Rangel said.

The embattled pol did not reveal whether the latest accusations were previously unknown to the public or were related to the original charges that prompted the probe by the House Ethics Committee.

The alleged misdeeds include Rangel using House stationery to solicit contributions for a self-named center at City College, failing to disclose hundreds of thousands of dollars in assets, and not paying taxes on rental income from his Dominican villa -- all first reported by The Post. He also kept four rent-regulated apartments in Harlem.

House Democratic leaders were pressuring Rangel to make a deal before the politically embarrassing trial is set to begin, Politico.com reported.

Last night, Rangel met with one of his lawyers and two Democratic leaders.

Fact is, he will never spend as much as an hour in jail.

Obamaholder will never let that happen.

I don't know what to think right now. It's somewhat of a tossup; either the Democrat Party will run him out of town now so that they can put another shoe-in Rat on the ballot for November, or they will delay and Rangel will win his district again. Charlie is probably thinking that if he retires, he is going to collect all of the perks, but if he fights it is an all or nothing proposition. I'm betting he fights.

This bothers me. Couldn’t we start a ‘Save-Charlie-Fund’? Say a nickel from each person....to keep Charlie around? I think he’s the best voting ad that anyone could ask for.

Uh oh. That sounds like a deal, and possible resignation is in the making. I was hoping for a long, drawn-out, nasty trial.

Maybe Charlie won't do any hard time, but this will hit him in the two places it hurts people like him the most.

The pocketbook, legal fees are already over $1.5 million plus he will have to pay fines and taxes.

His ego. Being affirmed a lying grubby fingered crook with no chance to rebuild his reputation will really sting.

He won't run again and will die before his 83rd birthday is my bet.

It doesn’t matter. As long as he wants to run for re-election he will win. The only thing that MIGHT stop that is if he becomes a Pubbie or changes his skin color.

Rangel is turning into the biggest embarrassment for the Democrats since former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich. Even more so considering he was one of the leaders of the Congressional Black Caucus.

Rangel is being forced out by the 1960s ultra-radical faction, because he is 4th in seniority in the House, and #3 Dave Obey is retiring. This would automatically give Rangel the chairmanship of the most powerful committee in the House, the Appropriations committee, if the Democrats keep the House after the next election.

And the Appropriations committee determines where every dime spent by congress goes. Unless the 1960s radicals control that committee, their agenda is over.

Obey will do anything Nancy Pelosi and the other radicals want him to, but Rangel is not part of their faction, so he will tell them to go get knotted.

And, I might add, while Charlie Rangel is typically liberal, he is not a true believer. He also earned the Bronze Star and a Purple Heart in Korea, leading members of his unit out of Chinese encirclement while wounded.

This honor and bravery alone are enough for the 1960s radicals to bitterly hate him.

You are most likely correct. Charlie will laugh all the way to the bank. His shame won’t be felt. People like him gave up being embarrassed long ago. These guys always justify their crimes to themselves because 1)they think it is not a crime if they do not get caught, and 2) everyone else they know it doing it too. The only thing I hope is that he feels he is being picked on because of his race, and that he, therefore, points fingers at all the others he knows in the DIM party who have done the same. I hope he starts to blab, just to get even. With Rangle it is always about “reparations” and I hope he decides it is time for the other RICH criminal Democrat politicians to get theirs for the way they have hoodwinked, used, and stolen from the taxpayers.

Charlie is old school poll who succeeded Harlem’s long serving Rep. Adam Clayton Powell http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adam_Clayton_Powell,_Jr.
My prediction: Harlem’s next leader will be a Moslem.

This is all bullsh*t, and people shouldn’t fall for it. A congressional trial? Ethics charges? If we don’t pay our taxes, can we expect the same? Oh hell no. Put this POS on trial for real in the same justice system us mere peasants would have to face.

Good analysis.

Who stands to take that chairmanship if the donks keep the majority? Or perhaps they are hedging, knowing they might lose the majority, and have someone on a leash who will become ranking minority member?

Who else is being protected while all the attention is on Charlie?

Maybe but the talk is that Charlie has to run again in order to raise money to pay all the legal bills he owes.
