[snip] Update 3:55pm Eastern Cloture vote falls short, DISCLOSE Act fails 57-41.

Schumer won’t let go:

Sen. Charles Schumer, the sponsor of the stalled campaign finance bill, promised Tuesday that Democrats would hold round-after-round of votes on it until it passes.

Schumer (D-N.Y.) spoke to reporters following the weekly caucus luncheons, slamming Republicans for holding up the response to the Citizens United Supreme Court case, which allowed unlimited political spending by corporations and unions.

“And we will go back at this bill again and again and again until we pass it,” he said. “It’s that vital, not to Democrats, not to Republicans, but to the future of people’s faith in the functioning of this government.”

"I thought that once a bill gets voted down can’t be brought up for vote again."

The bill did not get voted down. They just have not agreed to end the debate. Cloture is agreeing to end debate and take a final vote.

We will yet be screwed on this. Count on it.

What we need is a part-time legislature.

Heck, I’d even be willing to increase their pay by 25% if they agreed to meet only 2 or 3 months a year.

Every now and then I find it necessary to remind people that there's no real evidence that Chucky Schumer is Jewish, but there is, on the other hand, proof positive every single day that he's a Fascist pig, and here it goes again ~ given his druthers Chucky will chose the totalitarian method of dealing with opponents.

Republicans must hold fast on this one to save the Union!

No. From:

http://www.lifenews.com/nat6581b.html

“However, they were unable to peel off any Republicans to support the cloture vote and lost by a 57-41 margin.

Sen. Ben Nelson of Nebraska, who mostly votes pro-life, voted against cloture and Sen. Joe Lieberman, who typically votes with Democrats, was out of town for a funeral.

Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid also voted against cloture so he could immediately move that the Senate reconsider the vote at a later time. Under Senate rules, only a member who opposed cloture can ask for a re-vote, which Reid has done so Democrats can get Lieberman to town and twist arms some more until they have the 60 needed to move the bill forward.”

Reid will bring it back when Schumer demands.

Agree. Collins said through a spokesman this afternoon that she will not support the bill in its current form. It's almost a given that Dingy Harry will simply rework it and offer enough bribes until one or more of the squishy RINOs will cave and proudly vote yes for more tyranny...

Let me just say again that my NRA membership will expire soon, and I will NOT renew it...I will join a 2nd Amendment-loving group that gives a shit about American liberty and the First Amendment.

The NRA became Hussein’s Whore for a pass on this legislation, and that SUCKS.

Wouldn’t believe an utterance from this man even if it were on his last breath.

Not yet. They’ve just had a temporary lull. It will pass the way the “health care” bill did. Rework language, bribe, load it up with other stuff, and count on the RINOs to get it through.

Riiiight, Chuckie. I don't see citizens showing up on the Capitol Lawn by the tens and hundreds of thousands to protest in favor of this bill because they doubt their government.

However, I DO see those numbers of citizens showing up to protest in favor of the TEA Party agenda, because they doubt their government.

It’s always amusing how the most partisan are the ones always bellowing about how they know best for ALL The People. Schumer manages to be both craven AND a blowhard.
