Coronerís inquest into Costco shooting indefinitely postponed

A coroner's inquest in the fatal Metro Police shooting of a man at a Summerlin Costco store has been postponed, but a new date has not yet been set, according to the Clark County Coroner's Office.

The original coroner's inquest was scheduled for Sept. 3.

Coroner Mike Murphy said the Clark County District Attorney's office asked for the postponement, so the inquest has been put on hold.

"It's not a question of if it's going to be conducted, but when," Murphy said.

Coroner’s inquest into Costco shooting indefinitely postponed

Till the furor dies down and all the witnesses either forget or die, or are sufficiently intimidated or reeducated for the inquest to proceed, no doubt.

They know they're in trouble on this one. I wonder if anybody will be able to recover footage from the COSTCO tapes which were "mysteriously" erased?

This shooting just seems to stink from so many angles.

After Scott pointed the pistol at an officer, the officers fired at him, striking him multiple times, police said.

doesn't sound like the same shooting the eye witnesses reported...

reporter bias? or did the cops change their story again???

The Police Chief and other authorities have had time to review all the security camera footage.

They can’t find one piece of footage that proves Scott drew on them.

The LAS VEGAS POLICE always get their man, even if he’s innocent.

An autopsy won’t settle much. We already know what killed him. Multiple police bullets.

What the man’s family and the citizenry at large deserve to see is the video, and to hear the 9-11 calls and other recordings obtained during this horrible incident.

The ‘tell’ was in the way the officials explained the ‘tape’ situation to the press.

They (police chief) said that they didn’t even know if there were any security cameras in COSTCO, or if they were on.

Also, there was something wrong with those cameras (which may or may not exist), which kept them from recording.

Even if the cameras (which may or may not exist) had recorded something , the media (tape ) had a problem as well, and probably didn’t record anything.

All the video tapes, (which may or may not exist, and may or may not be any good) have been securely locked away in a safe at the Attorney General’s office. (the one who postponed the coroner’s inquest)

Sorry. The police chief, the Prosecutor, the Attorney General are all part of the greed, vice, and organized crime control of LV.

If it was shown that the police shot an innocent man, tourist revenue would go down, and Those officials who are running this coverup would be exposed.

THIS WILL NOT BE PERMITTED. These officials have better protection than a sitting President.

The LV police got 12 out of 40 people to say they saw him pull a gun.

Coincidentally, those 12 people ‘had’ outstanding traffic warrants. (just kidding, maybe)

A friend of mine once ordered some incredibly powerful magnets to use in an industrial machine. The magnets are so powerful that they're shipped in wooded boxes substantially larger than the magnets to prevent anything magnetic from getting to close to the magnets while in transit. Well, the receiving people removed the magnet from the wooden packing, whereupon it rocketed toward the steel loading dock ramp and shattered on contact (they're made of very brittle material). The shards were stuck to the ramp so hard, the people couldn't get them off.

Ok, since I’ve been providing back-story info on Vegad for people, I might as well explain the two newspapers.in Vegas for people not familiar with the situation.

The Las Vegas Review Journal (LVRJ or just “RJ”) is the more pro-liberty, pro-freedom, pro-property paper in Vegas.

The Sun is the other paper in Vegas and it tends to take the pro-union, pro-tax (unless it is a tax on casinos) and pro-Democrat line. I say “tend to” because there are exceptions to this broad classification of the two papers.

The Sun is the paper I would expect to take the side of the LVMPD.

Why would they postpone NOW something that was going to happen Sept 3 - that far in the future?

Best guess was that I heard that if they can push it back a few weeks - the result will come out AFTER the November election.

Anyone know just when the LV sheriff’s election is?

The problem with the security cameras in the Costco stores is that they are not really a continuous video. They are frames spaced out about one per second in most of the store. Only those at the front end are continuous.

Does the DA asking for this delay give you any reason to think the DA is doing its job and not just whitewashing this? I know if I were the shooters, this would make me nervous. Afterall if the DA is thinking of charging someone, they would not want an inquest to call it a good shooting before they got around to charges. Of course it could also be the fix is in.

I honestly don’t know. All we can do is note the increasing stack of inconsistent witness statements, delays, conveniently error prone magnetic media, etc and come to a conclusion in light of prior cases like this in Vegas that LVMPD is at the VERY least one of the most incompetent large city PD’s in the nation.

The DA in Vegas hasn’t brought these stooges to justice yet - perhaps because the LVMPD takes care to settle out of court to avoid running into the DA.

My guess is that:

1. The shooters are never allowed back on the streets of LV again. It would just be too costly to allow them to ever shoot someone again particularly the two time killer.

2. The shooters are viewed as expendible already by the police higher ups. It sounds to this person very far removed that LVPD have a PR problem and they may well try to solve it by throwing these guys under the bus.

3. The DA also has a PR problem and charging someone would solve that.

So unless there are tapes showing Mr. Scott clearly and obviously threatening those cops, I fully expect resignations and charges. It would be bureaucratically stupid not to go that way.

I expected the cops stories to be muddled, subject to revision, clarification, and flat out CYAWP. I expected each eye witness account to be be such you would think there were at least three different events, but this foot dragging by the Coroner is like nothing I have ever seen.

But stupid is what cops do best.

And besides, cops can literally get away with murder.

All they have to do is say they felt threatened and no amount of video or witnesses will keep them from walking.

Well stupid might be what individual cops do best. What I was saying was the police bureaucracy has a lot of incentive to throw these three under the bus. I will not be surprised when it happens.

And part of the reason it may happen is that they want to protect their perk of being able to shoot whenever scared. They will want the public off their backs on this one.

I don't see it happening. Cops protect cops regardless of what they do - unless they do it to other cops.

And part of the reason it may happen is that they want to protect their perk of being able to shoot whenever scared. They will want the public off their backs on this one.

That perk isn't going away regardless of how this turns out.

Cops can murder at will and that won't stop until we make it stop.

They certainly won't put out any effort on that.

"After Scott pointed the pistol at an officer, the officers fired at him, striking him multiple times, police said."

Which is counter to many eyewitness accounts. Part of this game is to  delay any investigation and publish the police version over and over and over...until it is the prevailing account.

I wonder what has happened to those hard drives from Costco’s surveillance system that had to be sent to California for ‘forensics’ review.
