Obama Missing Historic Centennial Boy Scout Jamboree for Fundraisers, 'View' Taping

President Obama will make history as the first sitting president on a daytime talk show when he visits with the ladies of "The View." But he'll be missing out on another historic occasion -- the Boy Scouts' Jamboree marking the group's 100th anniversary, right in the president's backyard. The Jamboree kicked off this week at Fort A.P. Hill in Virginia, where organizers had invited the president to speak to the 45,000 scouts in attendance. All three of Obama's predecessors have made it to one Jamboree while in office. But the president will instead be traveling Wednesday to New York for a taping of the ABC show, as well as Democratic fundraisers and a stop in New Jersey. The talk show appearance comes as campaign season moves into full swing, but also amid efforts to cap the Gulf oil spill for good, contain the damage from an unprecedented leak of Afghanistan war documents and battle Arizona over its immigration law -- set to go into effect Thursday. Obama also has an out-of-town event planned for Friday in Detroit. But while the Jamboree lasts until next Tuesday, the president is sending his regards via a videotaped message.

Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell, a fellow Democrat, scoffed at the idea of a president appearing on The View. “I think the president should be accessible, should answer questions that aren't pre-screened, but I think there should be a little bit of dignity to the presidency,” Rendell told MSNBC, at one point comparing "The View" to "The Jerry Springer Show."

The Boy Scouts represent moral values, developing young boys into fine young men, respect for God and country, American values, freedom, patriotism and duty. This is all counter to this regime.

obama canceled this year's national day of prayer and then turned right around and authorized a national day of muslim prayer. Heck, the do-fuss even attended the muslim day of prayer right there in Washington DC!

If we don't see change in November, this County is forever lost.

One of the few I found that might have influence was Steven Spielberg.

Spielberg resigned his honorary title in the late 90's because of his opposition to the Scouts exercising their Right of Assembly to determine their membership guidelines (i.e. no homosexuals or atheists). As an Eagle Scout myself, the moment I heard about this, I stopped going to see anything that Spielberg directed or produced.

From what I’ve read from Hillbuzz blogs, we don’t want this guy anywhere near our Boy Scouts. I’m glad he’s not attending.

Can you picture Little Barack as a boy scout? Instead of scouting, he was being “mentored” by Frank Marshall Davis, a pervert.

There are rumors circulating that Bush Sr. or W will make a surprise visit to the big Jamboree. I’ve heard it from a few parents already, but nothing official I don’t think.

And yes, it wouldn’t be a bad idea, but the crux of it is, that the sitting president has always acknowledged the promotion of a scout to Eagle rank, and by him acknowledging that fact on paper, the scouts record then becomes part of our nations history, as it becomes part of that presidents Archive and Presidential Library.

It just ticks me off.

I hope that if and when my son makes Eagle (2013), we will have a new president. I was wishing fondly last night after writing this post, how cool would it be for him to have his recognition letter done by a POTUS from Alaska!

Well, thats the other side of the coin. I’m sure his message would be filled with pro-homo agenda, or he would tell all the scouts how they owe it to minorities, or some such crap, or ramble on about how Islam is a Religion of Peace.

So yes, in that regard, it is better that he just stays away.

The paradox between what scouting represents and what Obama represents is akin to Mother Theresa versus Jeremiah Wright.

So, it will be his legacy, on the history books forever, that this anti-American socialist was the first to turn a blind eye to scouting, while spending his time going on the view, embracing Islam, vacationing every 3 weeks, having parties in the white house, and golfing every weekend.

Scouts represent the “little” people to him and his ilk, I’m sure, and to them, folks like our family and our BSA troop are everything that is wrong with America, while we on the other hand, think HE is everything that is wrong with America.

I appreciate your point of view Mamzelle, it actually reduced my frustration and made me glad that he is not part of our 100th year anniversary.

What is going to be a great year in scouting, won’t be overshadowed or tainted by this bastards presence.

One of my boys just turned 14 and just earned Life rank. We’re in no hurry for him to reach Eagle, partially to wait for another President to sign his certificate.

We just returned from a 50 mile hike in the Smoky Mountains. All the Scouts did great even though it was extremely hot and humid.

My son's Troop Leader and his wife for two. They seem like normal people, but as far as politics goes they are on the left.

Our kid will do Life next year and Order of the Arrow, we haven’t done anything in hills or mountains yet, but we hope to next year (Illinois is pretty flat).

I’ve never actually spent any amount of time in the mountains myself, and would love to do something like that with the family.

One of our guys had a little meltdown when a bunch of stuff hit the fan. I had a little accident with a backpacking stove resulting in some minor 2nd degree burns. (mechanical failure of the valve lit my hand on fire) I think it scared him a lot. We had a little talk and I told him that back country high adventure is a combination of physical, mental and emotional. When you control the emotions, the physical stuff is easier, but you really need to be on your game.

Go a couple times with someone who has back country experience.

I hope that their eyes are open now that "their" president won't attend the 100 year celebration of the Boy Scouts or even sign the Eagle Scouts Awards Certificates.

Zero has shown disdain for the organization that means so much to so many American families.
