Actually, that has been answered many times. Birthers serve Obama’s purposes. They make the opposition to Obama look like 911 truthers - wacko conspiracy nuts to be ignored by the large majority of people.
And Obama hasn’t spent millions defending himself. I doubt he personally has spent a single penny.

When writing laws, one always has to grapple with the fact that rules written for very large groups of people tend to be both over inclusive, and under inclusive, at the same time. Meaning that the rule both penalizes someone who it does not advance the purpose of the rule to penalize (over inclusive), and fails to penalize someone who it would advance the purpose of the rule to penalize (under inclusive). There are any number of Americans who came here as infants, or children, who love this Country, and treasure its ideals, but who are excluded from the Presidency. Conversely, there are any number of Obamas, who hold our values in contempt, and live to undermine them, but who are not excluded from the Presidency.
The Natural Born Citizen clause in the Constitution is both over inclusive, and under inclusive, and does not exclude BO from the Presidency, not withstanding his professed contempt for our values and institutions. Period. That leaves us with the choice of either (1) turning to the clauses of the Constitution requiring elections, and trying to win those elections, or (2) indulging in fantasies that some Court, or the Justice League, or somebody, is going to serve a writ on Obama removing him from office.
