Huck PAC Endorses Rich Nugent For Congress In Florida (Nugent Dupes Huckabee)
Huck PAC Blog ^ | July 29, 2010 - 01:48 PM | Mike Huckabee

Posted on 07/30/2010 4:35:11 PM PDT by cc2k

Huck PAC and I are pleased to support Rich Nugent for Congress, for Florida’s 5th District. Rich has selflessly served his country and community for more than four decades, first serving in the Air National Guard and then beginning his career in public safety and law enforcement.

Sheriff Nugent is pro-traditional family values, like the right to life, the definition of marriage as a union between one man and one woman and the rights of Americans to keep and bear firearms. Sheriff Nugent will use his law enforcement experience to ensure that the borders are sealed and the immigration laws are strengthened and dutifully enforced – and Rich will never support amnesty for those who have entered our country illegally.

Rich will fight the liberal left’s hijacking of our healthcare system and work to repeal it. Rich opposes Medicare cuts and wants to ensure the people of Florida can keep the coverage they already have. Rich believes we need common sense solutions that actually reduce the cost of healthcare for everyone.

I’m confident with the presence of a Congressman like Rich Nugent we’ll see real positive change in Washington. Please join me in supporting Sheriff Rich Nugent, and let’s send him to Congress.

Mike,

I respect you, but you got this race in Florida's 5th District all wrong.

Your "facts" don't check out.

You say that Nugent supports the rights of Americans to keep and bear firearms. This has not been Nugent's position in the past. In 2004, Nugent signed a petition to extend the Clinton Assault Weapons ban. And when asked about this, Nugent spun a story that made no sense at all. Check Tom Jackson's blog entry on July 23 for the details. http://www.tboblogs.com/index.php/community/C946/

You say that "Rich will never support amnesty for those who have entered our country illegally." This also does not match with what Rich Nugent has said on the campaign trail. On July 15, during a debate in Pasco county, Mr. Nugent said we couldn't deport the 12 million (13 million?) people who are here illegally now. He said that we couldn't afford the cost of that. (Video of this at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bRHXmR8esdQ ) Nugent favors expanding work visas and allowing illegals to get those visas to make them legal. That's a "path to legal status," and in my book, that's supporting amnesty.

I live in this district. I've been watching this race very closely. Nugent changes his story every time I see him. He is not a true conservative.

He also entered this race under very questionable circumstances. He was "hand picked" by our incumbent to be our next Congressman, without any consideration for the voters of our district.

And I thought you supported the Fair Tax. Nugent ridiculed his opponent for supporting the Fair Tax, saying it was going to be another tax on top of the income tax. I don't think I've seen that video online yet, but I have it on my camera somewhere. I probably should get that information out. It happened at the First Hernando Republican Club on July 13.

From the sound of your story about endorsing Nugent, I think you've heard a completely different story from this candidate than we have heard at the debates and forums here in the district. Of course, we're used to that because Mr. Nugent on Tuesday takes different positions than Mr. Nugent on Thursday.

While for some, your endorsement of Rich Nugent will raise their opinion of Mr. Nugent and his candidacy, for me, it just shows me that you are pretty gullible and easily taken in by a snake in the grass politician.

You really should have looked into Jason Sager. He is the true conservative in this race. He believes in limited government as it is defined in Article 1 Section 8 of the united States Constitution.

Jason Sager actually takes all of the positions that you have erroneously attributed to Mr. Nugent. And his story is consistent, day after day, event after event. He doesn't change his message to suit the audience he's talking to.

Sheriff Richard B. Rich Nugent for Congress
I stand with Jason Sager in Florida's 5th Congressional District. Sheriff Richard B. Rich Nugent for Congress

Calling Sheriff Nugent a “snake in the grass” reflects poorly on you and your candidate. The article goes on to address the claim that Sager is the Tea Party candidate, if he is how could he lose this vote so badly?

“In spite of Sager’s grassroots activism, the Citrus County Tea Party announced Friday that Nugent won handily in its recent straw poll. Nugent said: It is a privilege to be recognized by the largest and, arguably, the most active tea party group in the 5th Congressional District,” he said. “The Citrus County tea party has shown themselves to be a highly motivated group, committed to bringing fiscally conservative, Constitution-based principles back to Washington … I will work tirelessly to bring their voice to Congress.”
Other than showing up and speaking at Tea Party Events, he is not their Candidate by their chosing.

Michael Dukakis Huckabee is the last person I'd want endorsing me. This is the guy who pardons rapists, tried to steal the furnishings out of the Arkansas governor's mansion, protected his dog-killin' kid, and makes public schools weight students and send home BMI report cards.

But to me the most damning evidence of how dangerous he is comes from his similarity to Clinton and Gore: just before leaving office, Huckabee ordered destroyed a ton of computer hard drives in the governor's office. As support for this, Huck's attorney stated there was sensitive info on there that needed to be protected.

I just bet there was.

He’s got my vote, I’ve heard him speak at several tea parties in Citrus County and I like him. I don’t think many people know either in Citrus.

I’ve noticed that some of the folks “trying “ to run the tea party in Citrus are really main stream Republican RINO types, IMHO.
