In 2012 presidential election, Clinton vs. Palin?
The Christian Science Monitor ^ | August 2, 2010 | John Hughes

Bar Harbor, Maine-When the presidential family – and Bo the dog – spent a summer weekend in Bar Harbor this July, Mainers were delighted.

Despite Maine’s unpredictable weather, the days were sun-splashed and gorgeous. President Obama looked carefree as he and his family hiked, biked, boated, and tasted fresh lobster and ice cream. (He passed on blueberry but thought the coconut flavor was terrific.)

But on the top floor of the waterfront hotel where the president stayed, newly refurbished and carpeted for the visit, with bulletproof windows installed, presidential aides could not have been cheery as they pondered the latest batch of polls and press clippings.

In this summer of voter discontent, these sour signs heralded what has proved to be serious ongoing speculation about the president’s ability in 2012 to win a second term in office. It is a given that the out-of-power Republicans will do well, and the in-power Democrats will lose seats in the midterm elections this November.

Even White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs admitted recently that “there’s no doubt there are enough seats in play that could cause Republicans to gain control” of the House. For what seemed a relatively obvious statement of the facts, he suffered – rather undeservedly – one of those overnight Washington political and media hullabaloos, as anxious Democrats scolded him for “going off message.”

The trend lines support his statement. A slew of recent polls suggest declining confidence in the president and the Democrat-controlled Congress.

During the president’s weekend retreat, The Sunday New York Times declared that the drop in the president’s approval ratings to almost 40 percent, along with Mr. Gibbs’s comment, “equals trouble for the president in 2012.”(continued)

How can Hillary win without a huge influx of the black vote, which would be unlikely if Mr. Obama is shoved aside?

ACORN (or its successor) will trot out the black vote for whomever the DNC anoints.

My prediction (not what I want to see but what I expect):

Obama vs Romney

I don’t think it’s happening. I think she’ll go for veep and if she gets in, do the shoving aside then. (She wants to be the first female president—and doesn’t actually need a second term once she’s there!)

I don’t know if Hillary COULD win since people are fed up with the Clintons and their ilk. Sarah has the credentials to succeed, but Clinton is ruthless. But then, Clinton is attached to the Obama administration. This would get her burned with voters, given how livid people are at Obama and his set.

I don’t think Obama will be in the race in 2012. He will be proven worse than Carter. I think Romney is a has-been RINO. We need a Conservative with spine, guts, and cajones. That leaves Romney OUT!

Well, if that should happen, and HC should win, we’d still be in the midst of a s—t sandwich.

“I think Romney is a has-been RINO. We need a Conservative with spine, guts, and cajones.”

And experience. Haley Barbour.

I know, I know. Just my opinion. Barbour would kick some serious ass. Put Michelle Bachman on the ticket with him. Let Palin run the RNC, get more cred, more talent lined up and more power ... and raise so much money it will make their heads explode...

I agree, the black vote makes up around 20-22% of the Demo turnout. If HC puches Obama aside, do you really think they will turn out for the one who stuck the knife in Obama’s back?
The best she can do is VP with Obama in 2012 and take her chances from there.

In that case, I vote for Obama. The only thing that will save America if that is the choice is bullets and that will be more likely in a second Obama term. A Rino Romney will just be a slow death.

I just talked to 3 people today that believe that Obama is the greatest president that ever lived. The bad economy numbers are faked to make a black president look bad.

These are the people that will continue to vote for Obama and people like him.

We need strong and unapologetic conservatives that are willing to hunt out and remove all the entrenched communists from government. Once that happens the country will start to heal. As long as we are ruled by the enemy, we are doomed to oblivion. RINO’s only change the angle of descent.

Yep. Remember blacks, by and large, were supporting Hillary in 2008 until her campaign ran out of steam. Only then did they defect to Obama.

I don’t think Secretary Hillary Clinton has a bunch of common, everyday people that’ll go out and raise millions for her, or does she? I’m a disabled veteran and I’ll raise $2 million dollars for Governor Sarah Palin.

Haley Barbour Is a firm believer in the governments use of imminent domain to take people’s property so it can be used in another fashion to raise tax revenue.

Hell will freeze over before I vote for that man.

It’s that kind of position that got us McCain for a nominee last time. You’re aware there are FReepers who will tell you they won’t vote for Palin because she endorsed McCain and whats-her-name in California?
