GOP rep: Obama's 'in deep doo-doo' By Bridget Johnson - 08/07/10 01:08 PM ET

Rep. Dan Burton (R-Ind.) said Friday that "a lot of people want to jump off" and follow Christina Romer out of the Obama administration.

"When you see a ship starting to sink, a lot of people want to jump off," the congressman said on Fox Business Network. "And she is one."

Romer, chairwoman of the president's council of economic advisers, announced Thursday that she was leaving Washington and returning to an economics teaching job at the University of California at Berkeley.

"This president is in deep doo-doo and I think a lot of people are saying, 'Hey, we've got to get out of here before we all look bad,'" Burton said.

The Indiana Republican added that he believes the country is headed for a double-dip recession.

"I think the unemployment rate will once again go above 10 percent," Burton said. "I wish it weren't so. If we had somebody like Ronald Reagan in the White House who knew what to do to get the economy moving maybe it wouldn't be that bad."

Higher food prices at the store. High unemployment with
businesses holding back for fear of taxation. Expiring
Bush tax cuts. Looming Obamcare nightmare.
Barack is like the “Deepwater Horizon” rig, the calculations
have been run and the prognosis is, he is going to sink in flames in Nov.

Pat is too bound to his family always voting for Democrats. These people know better but just can’t leave the party. I find them the most dangerous since they know better and they remain on the wrong side. This type of person votes for RINOs on our side.

Republicans, still crying for their Caesar.

This all begins and ends with the legislative branch. Unfortunately, Rep. Burton thinks it's the job of the executive branch to decide what to do.

Idiot.

Blame idiots who watch TV for helping. No matter what the GOP does - the liberal TV networks will attack them. They own 97% of all the channels and control the idiot populace. They support Obama 110%.

Fox saudia news? Well their Saudi shareholders are thrilled about the 911 mosque at ground zero.

I wonder why....whenever the approval rating is worse than -15, we all hear about it.

But when it is better than -15, no one mentions it.

Romer leaving is not a good thing. She was probably the last person who had Obama’s ear and supported low or at least stable income tax rates. This probably means he is determined to let the tax rates rise on January 1st out of sheer punitive stupidity on economic matters.

I wish the GOP would just shut the hell up about Obama being in trouble and how November’s gonna be a bloodbath. This smacks of overconfidence and braggadocio and can have the effect of posting insults in the locker room of the opposing team. As we’ve seen many times in the past, Pubbies have an unsettling ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Please, Repubs — if you want to make a difference, shut your mouths on how ‘good you’re gonna do’ and gird yourselves with confident conservatism and sound fiscal policies. It’s fine to show how left, liberal and Dem policies are making a mess of things, but leave the body counts until after the elections...

How fitting in her choice of school. She moves back to indoctrinate the next generation into believing that her socialist thinking, which has been proved to be wrong, is the only way to go.

She will do just what her slime bucket husband did. Suddenly she will become a centrist; a voice of reason. She is just as much a communist snake as Obama. Hopefully the voters will reject another Bill and Hillary show in November.

I will also report it if it ever hits a new record high. His current high was about 15 minutes after he was sworn in I guess, and unlikely to ever happen.

The party has, for years, been trapped in a bunch of conflicting issues that pretty much assures the majority of Americans will find something to dislike. If they simply dump all that and adopt the tea party platform, the election’ll be a roll in. They just don't seem to get the concept that populism is actually popular.

Limited government, lower spending, and jobs. Simple, universal, and it actually works. I, too, despair at their inability to grasp it.

Yeah, I've had similar feelings about the current state of things. An awful lot of "chicken-counting" going on for my taste. The national GOP has disappointed for a few years now. The grass-roots efforts are really on their own. I hope we pull it off.

The three top issues are high unemployment, the national debt, and socialism. If we have a serious attack, national security could be a fourth. The MSM is trying to divert us from this by focusing on Michelle's excellent adventure and the birthers. If the GOP wants to win seats, it must focus on the economy, employment, limited government, and immigration. If we allow the MSM to set the agenda, they will do everything possible to make the opponents of Obama look like kooks.

Actually, she didn't have Obammy's ear. She couldn't get past Rahmbo, et al, to present her ideas. That's why she left. OTOH she's going back to Berkley so her ideas were probably crap anyway.

I really don’t know much about Romer but I think she’s resigning just like the guy (Christian Adams I believe is his name)from the DOJ because they know what kind of abuses this administration is taking against the American people and they don’t want to get tagged in the upcoming investigations.

That is totally different from the DoJ case. Romer is a leftist academic who has not operated even a freaking cash register, let alone a company, but was given reigns to run our economy. With no private world experience, her ideology is part and parcel of why America's economy is in shambles.

Epic Fail.
