Tens of thousands of people lined up at an East Point shopping center hoping to get federal housing assistance became unruly Wednesday morning with reports of fights breaking out in the crowd. An East Point police spokesman said the crowd numbered 30,000, some of whom waited for two days at the Tri-Cities Plaza shopping center. They were seeking applications for East Point Housing Authority vouchers to discount their rent.
As the temperature rose Wednesday, people fell ill.
Sgt. Cliff Chandler, spokesman for the East Point Police Department, said there were no reported injuries from the jostling, but 62 people had to be treated for heat or health-related problems. He said 42 people were treated at the shopping center but 20 had to be taken to nearby hospitals. A toddler was treated earlier in the morning for "some type of seizure," Chandler said.

There are 62 available units btw.
It must have been a racist event run by the New Black Panthers, because I dont’ see one white face in the crowd.

thank god they weren’t rowdy teaparty memebers or swat teams would have been called.
Just all part of 0bamao's "Summer of Recovery".
...wanna see why the Dems will win in Nov?....take a look at this mob....this is the new face of a winning election coalition in America...and it’s a coalition that reproduces itself every 15 years.

62 Section 8 vouchers you mean. Atlanta has been destroying housing projects since before the Olympics and moving these miscreants into our neighborhoods.
I did not move out here and pay the taxes involved to have you move the same people I wanted refuge from, Fulton County. You keep them.
America looks like a third world country in Africa now with scenes like this.
Blame all the TV networks who support Obama and idiots who watch TV for losing the country. Fox is no better as they are owned by the Saudis.
In the near future you will see scenes like this over food. Keep watching TV sheep and the NFL, NBA, MBL, NCAA gamees where they fawn over Obama their hero. Stupid sheep.
Those pics look like a meeting of the Arkansas teacher’s union!

I'm trying to figure out some common denominator for the people who want to live off the government......but for the life of me I can spot it.
Imagine how this headline would have read if this had been about Tea Partiers lining up to greet Sarah Palin!!
Would “rowdy” have been used . . . . . . or “violent”?
You got this right. By November King Obama will have bought millions more. This is going to be a hard fight and November will not mean much unless we are lucky and get the Senate and House. Have to have both to stop King Obama and his communists party.

Okay, two.
30,000 for 62 units? Surely the libs in charge of this can prevent something like this.
I wish many of these people would line up for jobs.
So much wrong here, period, take a look at the pictures; for what, 62 slots and they can only come up with this. Was more like a protest in Kenya at the capitol mall, people demanding, we wants mores yous owes us!
You can bet President Amabo the Black National Regime leader and political class is going to put on more stuff like this up to and after the November election.
You think the crowd would be as large if they were handing out employment applications for entry-level, minimum wage jobs?
Just askin’.
Umbrellas ?
the government is their mom and dad
so.. umm... i work... and am forced to take 50% of what i earn, 66% next year, and give it to the government... who will take 50-60% of it and give it to other people... to pay for their homes, food, cell phones, broadband, etc
of course, those people are able to stop spending their money on such things... thereby being able to buy more booze, drugs, and cigarettes
since when was i supposed to work to pay other peoples bills???
You have to realize that this meant 30,000 people HAD NOTHING PRODUCTIVE TO DO this morning, or yesterday, and so on.
Sad.
No wonder they vote for more handouts; it’s what they know. And there are few REAL jobs in that area.
Today is't housing. Tomorrow it's food.
"I wonder if these guys know The Commodores?"
Even if there were jobs, do you think these people would be working?
Since regular folks decided being called an R-word was the worst thing ever.
You WILL fork over the lion's share of your income for redistribution. You WILL not complain when you have to feed them. You WILL not complain when you have to pay to house them in YOUR own neighborhood.
Buckle up, folks.
Gimme some of that govm’t money now!!!!
“You WILL fork over the lion’s share of your income for redistribution. You WILL not complain when you have to feed them. You WILL not complain when you have to pay to house them in YOUR own neighborhood.”
Some “Great Society”, eh Lyndon? And no. I don’t want to see your scar OR see you pick up your dog by the ears.
Actually I think many (OK some) would. Every summer I do construction mission work in poor/rough neighborhoods. That means of course the residents are identifiably ‘black.’ Many of the folks there ARE losers. But many are just hopeless. Their neighborhood sucks. Their schools suck. Their lives suck. AND there are FEW jobs of real meaning within 30 minutes. It’s really no wonder they respond to a message like Obama’s.
I’ve worked with ‘families’ that are fourth and fifth generation no-job-I-live-in-the projects. They CANNOT see a bright future. They simply DO NOT have the values we wish they would have to be productive in a high-tech society. AND they have people there telling them it’s your and my fault. We try to do our part to spread the Gospel, spread some love, and add a touch of real hope.
... and this summer we wouldn’t let the kids sleep in the top bunks by the windows in case random rounds came through the windows of the school we were quartered in. (none did, although someone DID empty a small caliber revolver real close by).
I’m pretty sure there’s a passage in the Bible that says something about casting pearls before swine.
I was trying to but they all seem so diverse. Maybe someone can figure it out with a multi million dollar grant. There must be a thread of connection here someplace.
Yes, umbrellas. It’s stinking hot down here. You don’t want to be in the sun for long when it’s pushing 100 and so humid you could swim home. Bring shade if you have to.
The other side of that car no longer has rims, wheels or side panels.
I tried helping a poor family once, going to their home and repairing furniture.
While there one of the girls came and asked me if I had some plastic sheets to cover a window because they had just torn out the screen.
I finished up, left, and have had no interest in helping such self-destructive people again.
Is that a Snoop Dog Concert?
Spawn of the Great Society?
Hammer, meet nail.
We had a "Free Gas" -type giveaway at a station in my hometown not too long ago. Mrs WBill asked "Why not go?".
"Because Several Hours of my time is worth more to me than 20 bucks worth of gas" was my response.

Yep, crumbs from the masters table!
You mean a bunch of blacks who lined up for “free” stuff (i.e., provided by white taxpayers) displayed less than perfectly lawful behavior?? Seems IMPOSSIBLE, doesn’t it!
I wonder why no one was arrested!
these people would be better off on farms and in work camps producing food, crops, etc.
Its like 165 years later not a damn thing changed.
Handouts can’t fix broken culture.
“Its like 165 years later not a damn thing changed.”
I think they are worse off and the damage has been accelerating since desegregation.
(i.e., provided by white taxpayers)

There are some of us that pay taxes too.
'Tis a huge difference between "poor" and "squalid".
I grew up poor. Didn't know it, though, because everyone else was in the same boat my family was in. :-) I'm sure that Dad would have loved some help fixing furniture; he was busy working 6 days a week, and volunteering to boot.
I commute through a lower-middle class to "poor" neighborhood on my way to work. Everything is neatly kept up, painted, trimmed, mowed, etc etc. My guess, they'd love a hand, too.
I don't commute through the "squalid" neighborhoods. 'Tisn't safe. The cops only venture through there in force.
The difference? I can think of five separate churches that I pass by on my commute, in a dozen-block radius. There are more, I'm sure, a street or two over, too. Dunno about the "squalid" neighborhood, like I said, I don't venture there often. I know there are plenty of pawn shops and liquor stores. Couple of homeless shelters, too.
Whatever you subsidize, you get more of, IMHO.
