Look, I used to be a huge fan of the ACU, and they still are very useful in some respects. But Keene hasn't exactly been someone looking for what you would call an unbiased, universal standard. He has been very selective on what qualifies for consideration (only 25 carefully selected votes over the course of an entire year), and was perfectly willing to massage his standards to endorse Mitt Romney in 2008.
In some respects, water will find its own level anyway, but Keene has been as bad as some of the pollsters in recent year with his massaging. You'll notice that Kay Baily Hutchinson (89.38%) and Lindsey Graham (89.79%) are ranked higher than Jim Thune (86.77%) (what Freeper in their right minds would agree with that assessment? Graham is more Conservative than Thune?!?!?); and pro-choice, pro-gay rights, pro-amnesty, anti-gun folks like Sununu have higher ratings than Orrin Hatch (90.89% vs. 89.18%) or Jim Thune (86.77%).
This is not to say Kingston isn't a pretty Conservative guy most of the time, because he is. It is simply to point out that people make way too much out of an ACU rating these days. Just because Mitt Romney supporter David Keene's PAC gives someone a high rating based on a minuscule sampling of cherry-picked votes doesn't mean that it's a “case closed” situation.
Kingston had no problem with outside endorsements when it was Mitt Romney, or when they endorsed him or his guys. It was only when someone influential endorsed a different candidate that he suddenly decided free speech is local. He also had no problem pimping for Romneycare, trying to thrust Mitt upon us as leader of the Free World, defending Obamacare death panels, and lecturing us on how we need to embrace RINOs by not being so divisive.
Nobody is perfect, nobody. And the ACU is no ultimate authority, just one standard of Conservative measure among many. That's all, nothing else.

Sorry, Chunga. Kingston votes the right way, but he is a very weak sister. He strikes me as someone who votes conservative because that is what his district wants.
But he would do whatever would advance his career. If that involves liberal votes, he would cast them. And when no one is looking, he foes on Bill Maher and agrees with him that the phrase “death panel” is a scare tactic.
Going on Bill Maher and making an ass of oneself is not courageous. Kingston exposed himself as weak and lacking in judgment when he did that. He did the same thing yesterday when he, in effect, told Palin to butt out of GOP priomaries.

ODH’s mission here on FR is to paint as negative a picture of Palin as he can in hopes of swaying some away from supporting her. He is so effing obvious. I don’t like certain politicians either but I don’t use so much energy and passion to dissuade others from supporting them. ODH’s hatred for all things Palin is totally irrational and over the top.
It IS scare tactics. Sarah’s parents or child wouldn’t ever have to worry about “death panels” as I’m sure they all have private health insurance.

About Jack.....well, as a constituent of his, I can tell you that Jack is on the money 99 and 9/10’s of the time, but good Lord. This one is wrong on every level.
He was out of line with the butt out comment, not so much because he is wrong per se, but because, as a “representative”, it is not his place to make such statements. Sheesh. It is not unlike Handel refusing to take the stage with McBerry in an attempt to drive him from the race - winnowing candidates is OUR job folks, thankyouverymuch. When you guys try to do it, it comes off as clearly self serving, (which btw, was exactly my problem with Sarah’s endorsement of Handel!!).
