Last month the White House announced that the first family would visit the Gulf of Mexico for a vacation. It's a trip, as Christi Parsons reported at the time, intended in part to "help ward off criticism that, while the president encourages others to go to the Gulf, he will spend his vacation among the elite set on the island of Martha's Vineyard."
The White House has just sent new details of that trip, revealing that the Obama family will have spent barely more than one day in the area when all is said and done. That trip will include a roundtable discussion between the president and first lady with small business owners about the pace of recovery. Obama will also make a public statement.
"They both believed that it was important to highlight that, indeed, the Gulf Coast is, during a busy summer, open for business and the families that are there are enjoying their time there," press secretary Robert Gibbs told reporters in response to questions about the short nature of the trip. "You'll see he and the family out there. You'll see all of them out there."

That’s not even enough time for a boat ride to check the water.
As he was boarding Air Force One he could be heard muttering, “That oughta satisfy those uppity cracker redneck morons ... “.
The height of hurricane season...just sayin’
In other words, pure photo-op. Not a real vacation. hussein, the most vacationing President ever, apparently intends that we do as he says, not as he does. Vacation on the Gulf coast, but it apparently isn't good enough for him. Typical elitist. Hey, hussein, why don't you tell 'em to eat cake while on the Gulf?
Heck, they could rent a whole hotel for a few weeks along the Gulf Coast, and everyone would be thrilled. A real lot of Obama voters thought he was about substance, not hype. This acting like royalty just isn't doing it for US citizens whose lives are falling apart.
We still have 2yrs+ of this........Gee Nachum your website is filling up!
So.... would this be a post-vacation mini-vacation before their next vacation before the Labor Day vacation weekend? Help me out here.
The wounded Gulf coast doesn’t have the glamorous people that zero and his husband . . . er, Mooshell, have grown accustomed to hanging out with.
This is “dressing down” for the sake of the “little people”.
I am banging my head on my keyboard as I read this...
Unfortunately, this photo op does more to hurt the area than help it. They are inconveniencing the “little people” by causing delays at airports, on roads they my drive, and clearing a zone around them. Any hotel will need to be swept for danger, then the rooms they will use need to be closed until they get there.... costing that business moeny. All employees of hotels and restaurants will need background checks, meaning somebody has had to gather up all SS numbers of whoever will be there and submit it to the correct authorities. All for a few hours.
Don’t bother.

Gosh, they’re sacrificing 27 hours in a place they don’t want to be! Imagine their suffering!
It's not as if getting around in Panama City Beach is easy on a normal day, either.
Dressing down for the “little people”? What the heck was she doing with she met the King of Spain? She looked like somebody’s household help with that skinned back hair and wrinkled skirt. She could have passed as a cleaning lady that day...I was sort of embarrassed for her to be perfectly honest.
“This is dressing down for the sake of the little people.
More like “slumming it” for the unwashed.
27 hours? That’s not a vacation that’s a business trip!
But, but, but . . . . . according to the DBM, she's a fashionista!! A veritable "Jackie-O" of fashion!!
(Gag me with a spoon!! Jackie-O had more taste in a hangnail than Mooshell has in her entire body!!)
For them, it's a casual lunch!! LOL
