President Barack Obama on Saturday sought to defuse the controversy over his remarks on plans to build a mosque near Ground Zero, insisting that he wasn’t endorsing the specific project but making a general plea for religious tolerance toward all.
"In this country we treat everybody equally and in accordance with the law, regardless of race, regardless of religion,” Obama told reporters Saturday when asked about his remarks at a White House dinner marking the start of Ramadan.
“I was not commenting and I will not comment on the wisdom of making the decision to put a mosque there,” Obama continued. “I was commenting very specifically on the right people have that dates back to our founding. That's what our country is about. And I think it's very important as difficult as some of these issues are that we stay focused on who we are as a people and what our values are all about."
But his comments Friday night were widely interpreted as an endorsement of plans to build a mosque a few blocks away from where nearly 3,000 Americans perished at the hands of Islamic terrorists on 9/11 – an interpretation the White House hadn't disputed, up until Obama’s comments in Florida. . . .

I’d LOVE to see how successful a CHRISTIAN church would be if it wanted to build a brand new church on the same spot.
I’ve seen how tough local ‘polititians’ have made it for churches to be built here in my small part of Michigan.. I can’t even imagine how tough it would be in NYC in this politically correct climate.

I too thought he was reciting the call to morning prayers.
But, it seems to others more knowledgeable than me, that this call is also an oath to Islam and that if you say it, or wish to convert, this is what you say and THIS IS WHAT he did say:

It is also an oath EVEN if you are tricked or forced into reciting it and even if you wish to renounce it, you can NOT do so without fear for your life.
It goes like this: "Ash-hadu -an-la-ilaha illal-laha, wa ash-hadu anna Mohammad-an Abdo-hu wa Rasulo-uhu wa ash-hadu anna moulana ali-un –vasi-un wa vazir-ah.”
It literally means: "I bear witness that there is no God but Allah, and I bear witness that Mohammad is Allah's servant and His Messenger, and Ali is his successor ’vasi’ and minister ‘vazir’".
And it ALSO means that obama knew exactly what he was saying, knew exactly what it meant, and had no qualms about calling it the most beautiful sound on earth. As with most things, it was a message to his brethren and a finger in the eye of what obama considers stupid Americans.
If after what you have seen; if after what you now know about obama and his policies, here and elsewhere, and you still question whether obama is a muslim, you are too stupid to live.
I’m starting to smell a set-up. Zero is going to fall on his own sword and ask the rats REALLY turn against him back on their stumping at home....

I’m not sure Obama is intelligent enough to think of this, but his advisors might be .

Yes, it was all there to see. But if anyone dared to write an article or speak about things like this, that person was given the evil eye and called a “racist.” It’s like little kids who think that if they just squeeze their eyes shut, no one can see them. A majority of Americans squeezed their eyes shut and refused to have this man’s philosophy pointed out to them.
The media won’t ask because we’ve allowed anti religion to be considered racism (except for Christianity). But Islam is not even a religion. It is a political ideology sold as a religion. But the media is afraid that if they say anything about obama being a muslim they’ll be accused of racism. Therefore they won’t even ask.
