Dems may use food stamp money to pay for Michelle Obama's nutrition initiative
The Hill ^

Democrats who reluctantly slashed a food stamp program to fund a state aid bill may have to do so again to pay for a top priority of first lady Michelle Obama.

The House will soon consider an $8 billion child nutrition bill that’s at the center of the first lady’s “Let’s Move” initiative. Before leaving for the summer recess, the Senate passed a smaller version of the legislation that is paid for by trimming the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, commonly known as food stamps.

The proposed cuts would come on top of a 13.6 percent food stamp reduction in the $26 billion Medicaid and education state funding bill that President Obama signed this week.

With all that dough Marie can open franchised cake shops all across America. If you only want to buy half a cake they'll cut it with a guillotine.

The education bailout bill also had $2.6 billion in defense spending cuts.

I would think that a “Let’s Move!” initiative would be heavily weighted towards roughage and prune juice.

Of course, in a fully evacuated condition, the First Wookie would drop to 98 lbs — and Barry would disappear entirely.

Just another $8 billion, chump change to the Dems. Is there some reason I don’t get that the Feds have to be involved in school lunch programs? This should be in local hands IMO.

There has been such an effort to “unstigmatize” the use of food stamps that now it’s a debit-card instead of actual coupons.

Would I have a problem with food stamps (or WIC cards) to only be vaild for the purchase of government approved items? Since all packaged foods have barcodes, it wouldn’t be too hard to program cash registers to not accept certain food items (twinkies, for example) to be paid for using food stamps.

But do I want that level of government control? On the one hand, it is being paid for with “government” money, so they do have the right to put any stipulations on it’s use.

I dunno.

That alleged money...which there will never be none from the reduction of food stamps, was meant to partially pay for the $26 billion state bailout II or III.....

Tell me our politicians are not liars..../s =.=

At the local convenience store, there’s one family that buys all three meals a day on their WIC card. Mostly junk food.

I’ve seen people buy candy bars with their WIC card.

Put Mooch-elle and Sasha on a diet and they won't have to cut the food stamp program.

That's DIFFERENT!

...And, that's RACIST!

That said, the Wookie does like her food and martoonis, doesn't she? I doubt I'd make comment, but I am about ready to puke on my shoes about her being so “fit” and such “a fashion icon”. Give me a break...the woman can't even shave her gross forehead from 5 o'clock fuzz and wears clothes that DO NOT FIT. If I see her big old butt in a pair of too tight pants, with big marks around her privates, one more time...well, I really will puke.

What do they intend to do with that 8 Billion dollars?

What is the plan? Just hand Michelle a checkbook and stand back?
