(4) North Korean Intelligence Agents Caught Sneaking Into US Through Mexican Border (FY07-10)
WSB (Via DHS/ICE Internal Documents) ^ | Posted: May 3, 2010 Updated: 7:15 am EDT May 28, 2010 | WSB TV Atlanta from US Gov. Docs

Four (4) North Koreans attempted to sneak into the USA from Mexico our southern border, but were apprehended.

The four necessarily are intelligence operatives, for NO North Korean citizens travel freely or without the sanction and close watch and instruction of the Korean Workers Party and the intelligence apparatus of North Korea; only diplomats and those under control of the KWP are allowed overseas travel, passports (in this case to get to Mexico), etc..

North Korean refugees fleeing Kimilsungist Communism are processed through normal diplomatic and refugee channels.

Why has this not been a top issue? What were they attempting to achieve? Where were they heading? What networks did they use to get as far as US soil (Arizona)? Were they heading for one of our nuclear lab facilities? Do they have compatriots who have made it into the US and are in the Korean community or otherwise operating actively?

(Report covers the FY2007-2009 period).

"homeland security..not telling how many didnt get caught."

If four were caught, at least forty made it through.

Thats true! it has never been safer.

There are new crossings that are completely ADA compliant, with a minimum of 1 foot/candle lighting, slip resistant stair treads and comfort stations every 1000 yards. S/

Night vision equipment or sensors, or both.

Also, obviously, by their appearance, once captured, it was clear they were not Latino, but Asian.

And as somebody else said, no telling how many GOT THROUGH. These were just he ones caught!

My guess is that for at least every 1 caught, 10 have gotten through, at the very least, so you could conceivably have 40 active North Korean agents in the United States (outside of those attached to the DPRK Mission in the UN in New York) carrying out espionage or possibly sabotage or waiting for orders to engage in terrorism. My general estimate would be a higher figure. Either way, as a nation, we are porous. The DPRK are not.

Alas, if they are trained to sniff for “tree bark” that will give less false positives!

Thank you for the post! I suggest everyone go to the link, and look at the 4 pages of those who have been caught.

It’s bad enough that NK intelligence was among them. But, just look at those from other countries...not just islamic countries...but Cuba, Venezuela, and countries of that ilk...who have been caught.

Granted, they might have been tryng to escape their countries...but, then again...maybe not.

Actually, they were probably "ratted out" by their Mexican mules. Our security, sadly, relies on Mexican cartels and their corrupt government realizing that if terrorists who passed through Mexico pull off a major caper, the border will be hermetically sealed.

We're do you get that?

After 911 more people entered this country illegally in the 5 years following, than any other period.

((During wartime))

It's so bad after 911, Bush's Homeland Security Chief Chertoff, was found to have people wandering around his private residence, that were in this country illegally. ((Again, during wartime))

“...they came here to find more sources of ginseng...”

You don’t know how true that is! My best customers are Koreans begging to buy our old wild roots. My two highest sales for individual roots were $3700.00 & $2800.00 each! Both were purchased by Koreans.

Terrorists will eventually cause something very, very bad to happen in a major American city. Thousands will be killed and injured.

If the following investigation is done in an honest manner, I suspect it will be discovered that the terrorists and their bomb, whatever, came into the US via our swiss cheese border.

Human mules carry drugs into the US every day. Why could they not also carry nasty things for use by terrorists?

Think like a terrorist. If you wanted to get into the US, what would be the safest, simplest way to do that? Would that also be the best way to bring in your “materials?”

I would not be surprised if these NK were tunnel experts brought in to build drug tunnels, back to Mexico from our side, or to link up with existing tunnels.

Like it or not, one thing that the NK are very good at is digging tunnels and bunkers using no heavy machinery.

"Both were purchased by Koreans."

Interesting. I was always under the impression (from what I had read on the subject) that American root was--if not "inferior to", at least less desirable--than Asian or Siberian.

“I was always under the impression (from what I had read on the subject) that American root was—if not “inferior to”, at least less desirable—than Asian or Siberian.”

‘Siberian ginseng” (Eleutherococcus sentocosus) is not ginseng. It does exhibit some of the same properties as the true ginsengs, but it is not ginseng, plain and simple. Don't believe what you read. It is a marketing ploy to sell a much less valuable product at higher prices to the unknowing consumer. In the business, it is called ‘Eleuthero’.

I have been active in ginseng research for the past 20 years, given numerous lectures and was president of the ESGGA for six years (Empire State Ginseng Growers Association). Mrs. panax and I have traveled far and wide throughout New York State, as well as surrounding states conducting learning seminars on this subject.

Asian ginseng (Panax ginseng) does command high prices from Asians. Chinese ginseng is “hot” or gives you an quicker energetic rush, if you will, while American ginseng (Panax quinquefolius) has a more mellow long-lasting effect on the endocrine system without giving you the jitters like coffee would.

At one time, Panax ginseng was abundant throughout Asia, but it has been mostly extirpated from their woods due to a Billion people digging it for 5000 years. Incredible prices have been paid for true Asian WILD ginseng due to its scarcity. They now grow most of it in a cultivated manner under artificial shade cloth, adding chemicals that are proven carcinogens as well as human feces for fertilizer. American ginseng is also cultivated without the use of human poop, but is still the second most sprayed on crop in America. Wild American ginseng of high quality has always brought high prices. The Chinese and Koreans cherish the older wild roots we have and will pay premium prices for roots over a hundred years old.

Both Asian and American contain the same group of ginsenosides, but at different levels, some higher, some lower. Much research as been conducted on the comparison between the two and it was found that American ginseng is higher in certain ginsenosides than the Asian variety. Both are beneficial to humans if used correctly.

Few people are aware that American ginseng was one of the first exports from our newly formed country and helped fund our revolution. Robert Morris (one of the 56 signers of the Constitution) was heavily involved in the ginseng exporting business to Canton, China back in 1784. John Jacob Astor also made lots of money exporting ginseng. Daniel Boone was involved in the collection and sale of this precious American commodity. He hired local Indians to harvest the roots from the woods and then brought them up the Ohio River by barge to Philadelphia for export to China. It is reported that on one trip his barge was capsized with 12 tons of root lost. He repeated the trip the following year with an equal amount. He made incredible profits from his venture, which funded his explorations.

American ginseng is just as beneficial as Asian ginseng. If you use ginseng, make sure it is not from Wisconsin (cultivated and heavily sprayed). It is of low quality and may be worse for you than you can imagine. Buy wild certified roots if you can afford them.

Again, Siberian ginseng is NOT ginseng!

Take care.......panax
